Oh boy, Jackie Chan and Jet Li together, in a big budget American/Hong Kong film. The retelling of a classic Chinese fable, a South Boston kid who is into Kung Fu flicks is transported to the Middle Kingdom on a quest to return a bo to the Monkey King, who is a prisoner of the Jade Warlord. He meets up with an immortal master, Jackie Chan (in his Drunken Master role) and a Silent Monk (Jet Li, intense as ever), and young woman who was orphaned by the Jade Warlord and seeks vengeance.
The story is familiar but there are moments where it really shines. The Kung Fu action is REALLY nice, very fast, and not as choreographed as one usually sees in these films. The cinemetography is superb, a great film to take in visually. It has some funny bits, good characters. I really enjoyed this film and recommend it to anyone with a sense of adventure, and all Jackie Chan fans. Go see it!
