How many deg away from the target's bow to put the torp green line (nav target map)? Is there a simple formula to use to ensure the target intersects the torp? Pls inform if I am doing something differently by sending the range, AOB, and speed to the PK first. I then put the green line slightly ahead of the bow and set the torp to high speed. Doing all that increases the chances of hitting. Being under 1K yards is also very important. I find the PK and green line placement invaluable.

TIA!

The green line shown on your attack map is the course of the torpedo. As long as you have correctly estimated the target's range speed and heading, the torpedo will hit the target.

As insinuated by the previous post, it isn't the green line tool that's used to "aim" your torp. It's simply a confirmation the torpedo is heading for a point in time in the future where the torp and target will converge. You have it right when the target and torp converge near a 90 degree angle ahead of the target. Whether that point in time is correct or not is based on the accuracy of the target data.

Large deviation from 90 degrees is an indication you need to wait longer to fire (the line angles toward the target) or it's too late to guarantee success. It's more of a timing indicator than an aiming indicator though it also shows you the results the gyro angle set into the torp based on your observation input.
