There was a 7.0 in Seattle not too long ago, and I think a brick fell off one building. People sort of walked by looking at the brick on the ground. I mean, what builder had such terrible building skills to let a brick come off a building in a 7.0 Earthquake? That is nuts! :D Poor building skills. He should be brought to trial! :p

Laugh all you want, but we're long over due.

The longer we go without a quake, the worse its going to be when we finally do.

One one hand, i can't wait. Im a californian native, born and raised here, i grew up with quakes, i know the drill. Its all these people that moved here from back east that don't. Over the years people have forgotton this is earthquake country, and urban development has skyrocketed - many in really STUPID areas. We need a good kick in the ass to hopefully run some of these people out of here. Its WAY overcrowded.

On the otherhand, i know better, its not going to be fun. I havent stockpiled an emergency ration /water kit even though i know i should. And you really should, there is no such thing as being neighborly here, people are out for number 1 and walk over anyone who gets in their way.

"The Big one", will come - eventually, they've been saying it for years i know, but.. if you live in california, the occasional big quake is a sure bet as death and taxes, and again, the longer we go without one, the more fault pressure is building up.

I'd sooner have a yearly 5.0'er then a go a long time without and have all that pressure build up. But, hey, its not like you live day to day worring about it. Its there, it can happen, life goes on. I just hope that when it does happen im not in some underground parking structure or something at the time.

There haven't been any quakes up North in the PNW either for some time. Only bad things can come of that - pressure is building.

I think the next major quake is going to be little bit bigger then 6.7. Id expect at least a 7. I just wonder if its going to be:

- one of those quakes that start with a little tremor that goes on for what seems like 10 seconds ( which is an eternity) followed by a pause and then. BAAAAAAAAAAMM, the real wave hits.

- The other way around. Big wave, followed by small tremors

- BIg wave.....tremors.... followed by bigger wave.

Quakes are always one of the three. The odd thing is, you can hear a quake. Very low pitched rumble, you dont become concious of it until it subsides, then you realize it has a sound. :rotfl: Last big quake i saw, was bending basketball courts like fishing poles, and 3/8" plate glass was almost to the point of shattering in their frames. Best place to be during a quake is acutally in your car on the freeway and nowhere near an overpass. With the cars suspension, you barely even realize a quake is happening at all.

My brother's school had a lock-down last week - somebody was playing with an airsoft pistol accross the street. Alarms, messages (In the wrong language, incidentally, but hey! It's not like it's important or anything) and all the good stuff. They were barricaded for twenty minutes, top.

Panic attacks all around, people crying... They had to bring in psychological assistance the next day. I **** you not.

If those people get PTSD from an alarm going off, it's a good thing they don't work on ships :-D

I was in a quake once back in the 90s a quake hit here very small but enough to be on the news did no major damage but i remeber it clearly thing is you think 'oh if a quake came i would run to the nearest strongest peice of furniture like a table and duck under it' incase the roof came down etc. But when the quake is happening you can't run or move, i just fell over on the spot i couldn't move when i realised what was happening and went to get up i just fell down again. It would of lasted not more than 6 to 8 seconds I was outside at the time and the earth started moving like a wave coming towards you, it was weird & scary to see the ground rolling towards you like a wave.

My brother's school had a lock-down last week - somebody was playing with an airsoft pistol accross the street. Alarms, messages (In the wrong language, incidentally, but hey! It's not like it's important or anything) and all the good stuff. They were barricaded for twenty minutes, top.

Back when i was a kid, i was woken up late one night from a quake. I dont remember which one. But i laid there flat on my back wondering, "Hmm, do i get up for this one or not?"

Shortly after the first *BAAAAM* hit, i quickly changed my mind and thought "Ok im getting up!", shot out my bed like a rocket and ran to the nearest doorway. I had a good chuckle at myself for how quickly i changed my mind, and it was a mindset of "Oh s**t!" :rotfl:
