Not sinking in Multiplayer

Hi, sorry if this has been posted before but nothing of use came up with the SEARCH function.

In multiplayer games using 1.5 and TMO over my home LAN I have noticed that when destroyed on the surface, you stay surfaced and do not sink to the bottom. As such you are still being shot at by destroyers etc. and sometimes my deck gun still fires! Tonight I was rammed and subsequently destroyed 5 destroyers AFTER i was dead!

Now is there any way to make sure I sink as I would presume woudl be right when you are destroyed? It's a bit of an easy way out for the others in the pack as the destoryers all tend to destroy themselves on the dead sub by ramming it!

Sorry to bump this but it happened again today, I took heavy flooding from depth charges and surfaced and I was killed, I chose to spectate as I was hosting and the others were mainly alive, yet those of us who had died were surfaced and kept getting shot at and rammed, clearing out a good 9 destroyers between our hulks leaving the other 2 chaps to polish off two carriers and a BB.
