Not wishing to rant of course, but does anyone else get the impression that ImageShack is kind of hopeless. It seems to be very slow all of the time. :damn: I can't get a proper posting link for images. :damn: And it's deleted my signature image. :damn:

Like I said, I wasn't going to rant. :arrgh!: But is PhotoBucket better? :hmm:

edit/add: So I go to PhotoBucket to sign up. Put in my ultra high-fangled security user name ... name not available. What the ...? Use a variation name, enter the email address, then it tells me it already has an account for that email address. ... oops, already had a PB account   . Now I gotta find the password :rotfl: :rotfl:

photobucket is faster, holds more info, doesn't spam your e-mail address, and is free with registration.

i think it provides a very good free-of-charge service - and i far prefer it to photobucket

I use it a lot, and occasionally there are slowdowns that can cause problems - the usual way around for me in these cases is to use a smaller image or reduce the resolution of the image. I find that usually solves the issue

p.s. you don't want to get spammed by emails - don't give them your email address. The emailaddress entry field is optional.

Sometimes when I click on someone's ImigeShack thumbnail, I get a CTD. I tried ImageShack, and had nothing but trouble.

I've been using PhotoBucket for three years now, and have never had a single problem. That's all I can judge by.

Though they are fascists with bandwidth. Still, I prefer them to ImageShack, and only use ImageShack when I've posted too many pics from my Photobucket account and broken my bandwith for the week... or month... or year, even.

Yea, I gave up 2-3 years ago on them DOPE heads.

Now that I have my own Windows Home Server, I can share this without a third party website hassling me.

I will survive, see ?:

I guess my photos aren't big enough yet to have this problem occur? :hmm:

Imageshack worked fine ~6-9months ago. Now, it's very slow to me, so I started using PB few months back. Never going to go back to anything else.

Well, after retrieving my PhotoBucket password and uploading/posting some images, I find that PB has much better functionality, plus nice clean image code for posting :know:

I use both....the advantage of using IS (for posting purposes) is that you don't have to leave the image in an account with the resultant drain on your storage allowance.

Therefore, I use IS for those one off posts and PB for stuff I want to keep.

Screwing around with Image SHack and I seem to get better results in speed if I use imageshack.us for the URL over www.imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.com).

Pinging it, I show two different IP's for those addy's - imageshack.us goes to 38.99.77.244 and www.imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.com) goes to 39.99.77.228.

The moral of the story is, if one server is bogged, use the other. Image Shack still works great for me using this method. No one needs Photo Bucket.

PS. Maybe I should have kept this secret to myself. :D

PPS. I screwd up Its Imageshack.us. Let me edit my post. Edit complete.

ImageShack is down to many times and have a nasty habit of deleting images so I'm not that keen on them, on the other hand I've had no problems with Photobucket and they seem to improved as well.

It's always been my experience that when clicking on a link to an image, if it's on imageshack, it'll take almost 45 seconds to load, whereas photobucket will only take a few seconds.

I always thought it was just my perception. Glad to hear it's imageshack.

BTW, I use photobucket for all the images on my narration. Having a 1 gig free storage is priceless.
