Question 1
I am currently doing the naval academy flak artillery But I am getting creamed any suggestions on how to getpast this. The AI gunner gets about two to three planes before he gets killed forcing me to put some one else there.I am partially sighted so cannot target them manually.
Question 2.
How long in real time do you do a single patrol for?
For example do you do a patrol for longer 2+hours or longer or shorter than that.
in all honesty, in career mode whenever i spot a plane, i order a dive. Because the #1 enemy of U-boats were planes. and it seems like whenever you are spotted by a plane, they radio in your position, and soon you have either warships diverted to your position or just more spitfire's loaded with 500 pound bombs coming at you:huh: lol
I think it would be very hard to do a patrol in less than 2 hours. Even on the highest time compression.
But I suppose if you really had to rush you could. :arrgh!:

Don't worry about passing that one. If you have GWX installed, it is really tough.
As far as patrol lenghts, it depends on what I find out there. If I encounter a Convoy early and spend most of my torpedos, it will be short. I have done others where I was out for weeks (game time) and limped back home on fumes.

You can complete a patrol in less than 2 hours real time. But your patrol will not be very thorough and you will not sink many ships.

Welcome aboard.
Don't worry about the flak thing. Basically, you never want to get into a fight with aircraft; they're just too dangerous. The C (crashdive) button is your friend.
In continuous RL hours (over multiple sessions @2-3 hours), a typical patrol probably takes me something like 20 hours. I use max TC 512, but only for long transits, and most of the time max 256. When I'm in patrol mode, I use max 128 (eg for in-between listening dives). When I pick up a target, whether visually or by sound, I go 1X all the way until I disengage. ... not THE way, just my way.
I passed the flak artillery course moving at high speed (ahead full that is) and taking evasive actions (steep turns to either port or starboard side). Shoot down the slow moving ones first and try to avoid too steep turns while doing so.
Don't give up.

Welcome,
Dive, Dive, Dive. I never target a plane unless It is to shallow to dive. My last patrol out of Salamis (1942) My WO spotted 5 seperate allied aircraft. We crash dove on all sightings and were depth charged 3 times. We suffered minor damage on 2 of the attacs.
Check out the below link for SHIII (GWX) good stuff links to our modders.
