This gave me an idea:

Wouldn't it be cool for your officers and the control room and bridge to be life sized?

And if Ubisoft ever got it into thier heads to allow for multiple monitors......drool....

:hmm:
Now what else would I need to do to make this workable?

I'm gonna have to move some furniture around......

Would have to figure out how to do this so I don't have to worry about crossing in front of the projector. Maybe a mirror or two, like the projection TV sets?

I could try maybe using that thingamajiggie head tracking - I forget what it's called - instead of a mouse. I wonder what the range is on that thing? I know it works from a couple feet away, but how about several feet?

I wonder if I can rig an old pair of binoculars(with the lenses removed) to change the SH4 view to the binocular view when I raise them?

I'm probably gonna need lots and lots of motion sickness pills.....:ping:

I picked up an XGA projector from Tigerdirect for about $600. It's the Viewsonic PJ551D. 2200 lumens and 2000:1 contrast ratio. Not high end, but we use it for TV and DVDs and set the screen size at about a 6 foot diagonal. Picture looks pretty good. I just need to pick up a 7' x 7' pull-down screen.

My advice: dump the wife, build the projector, even if you have to replace the bulb once every six months it's a lot less trouble!!

And a screen won't make you feel like having the freaky deeky on cold nights. But come to think of it it a screen will make you warm if you press your face up close.

Track IR, I believe, is what you're referring to. Used in Flight Simulator.

BTW, I don't think the wife will hate it. She'll enjoy watching OPRA on it. :rotfl:

Track IR! That is what I was thinking of!
I wonder how it would be actually using it to try to look around 360 degrees....

The more I think about how to make all this happen, the more it seems like I'm setting myself up for motion sickness....
