Guys,
I'm running GWX2 and I'm trying to aim for the keel and it is not working.
I'm using steam torps and magnetic pistols.
what I do is lock on the target, get a good solution (aob and distance) and choose the keel. when this happens the ship never breaks in half. also when i have a ship locked I can not manually change depths. Am I doing it wrong?
I just spent 3 eels on an empire type freighter targeting fuel bunkers and engines and it would still not sink, I had to finish her off with the deck gun.
My brother who played sh3 a while ago enjoyed breaking ships in half all the time.
:damn: he says I'm doing it wrong as I have the target locked, but if I don't have it locked then won't the torp just fire straight at where I'm pointing at the moment?

Try to utlise the Mod, "torpedo damage final", that change only the visual and you can see where exactly your torpedo had hit the target. The effect is always the same, only de graphic or visual change(already, I Dream of a torpedo effect like the graphics of "Torpedo damage final", the real damage is very different at the graphic).

they seem to hit the middle of the ship pretty shallow.

First of all, with GWX, ships don't seem to snap in half as often as in stock.
Secondly, if you're using automatic targeting or have a solution "locked in" the TDC, you can unlock the scope and aim at different areas of the target; the TDC will adjust the gyro-angle of the torpedo accordingly.
Good luck and remember, in Soviet Russia, TDC adjusts YOU!

In GWX ships seldom break up. They sink by flooding like in RL. Sometimes the cargo explodes and the ship goes down in a few seconds.

I've never experienced back break in GWX. They always sink by flooding.
Shoot a docked Destroyer and use a T1a at 1m, 45kn and there's a good chance you'll see it crack in half. They seem to bust up about half the time, othertime they just flood real fast and dissappear.

Yes, I have see a a couple of times a destroyer breaking in half amd exploding in the next seconds; in general in the game the DDs are more weaker as Merchants or others types after such impacts and sink very fast; only exception the Town class(Four Pipes)destroyers, I have hit sometimes destroyers of this type and in 80% of ocassions he need a second hit to sink .

OR if hit the weak spot of the ship, it would break in half too. I tried several times in T3, Large merchant, and once a ore carrier, but never at the keel.

From what you said, were you chose the grey area shown on the manual? It seems disabled in GWX. Instead, you should just lock the ship, the manually set the trops depth 1~2m deeper than the keel, and fire. That, you may have a little chance to break the ship in half.
