Hi All,
Sometimes when running SH4 I get the dreaded 'Silent Hunter 4 has encountered a problem', after which my display goes to desktop looking like it does when I start without the card loaded, everything basic, colours, definition etc. I'm using a Geforce FX7300LE PCI 16 overclocked to the max without changing voltage.
Has anyone else had this and can explain why? Everything is fine after I reboot, till the next time!!

I get that if I've messed with the mods I'm running. The files don't always match up with what was saved last. Anymore I wait until I'm in port to change stuff.

I'm wondering if the problem isn't because you've overclocked your graphics card. You might be pushing it beyond what it can handle. Those types of problems are common with overheating GPUs.

I go with Q on this one. Overclocking to the max and not feeding the voltage need sounds like a brew for disaster.

Hi Guys,
I did not even think about overheating since core temp. never goes above 45, and that is also why I didn't change voltage, to stop overheating. Maybe I need to know more about it. I also get the debug message about slowing down due to missing auxiliary power. I u/gd my PSU but it did no good.
Any help gratefully accepted.

As you can see here (http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=718&model2=722&chart=318), 7300GT doesn't even beat the old 6600 GT (3 years old). The 7300LE is probably half as powerful as the 7300GT which is already half as powerful as the 7600GT (which is a decent (not great) card for games).
So, you kinda need a new video card.

Yes, RR you have an overachieving graphics card. This is a great time to pick up a 7600GT, which in my opinion is entry level for SH4. I had a ton of fun with mine and only have a better one because EVGA got softhearted and sent me a better card back on an RMA.

And if you do end up with a 7600 make sure it's GT, the GS which I have, you will notice the difference.

I run 2 EVGA 7600GT 580/1500 (factory OC) in SLI and have had no problems with FPS. I'm running a old 939 system with 2 gig of memory and a 2.6 Dual Core Opteron.
