On a whim, I took my S-class boat out of Pearl and tried to reach Alaska. Lo and behold the range was far short of what the S-class was actually capable of.
Try as I might, I couldn't find the answer in the NSSSclass_US udf. After a few hours experimenting, the answer was located under [PROPULSION]. The range was listed at 5000, which I'm convinced is expressed in kilometers, not nautical miles (this theory borne out by three hours testing- my boat was only going 2400 nm best speed on one engine).
To remedy this problem I changed the range to 10000, the result was that the boat made 5,275 nm (cruising on one diesel FULL, about 8 kts).
So, one may wish to review all the udf's in SH2 and PA to make sure they are accurate range wise.
Yours, Mike
