Against my better judgement (UBI history for bugs and unfinished products) I went throught the above link here at Subsim and bought the 9.99 add-on U-Boat missions this past Monday. I have been playing every day since and have been having a blast playing this game, $9.99, who would have thought :hmm:
I am floored at how stable this game is, no glitches, no bugs (that I see, knock on wood) nice video, no CTD...Yet (knock on wood)...Fantastic.
Still learning the game, just upgraded to the Walter boat, its fun to cruise on the surface at 28 knots :smug:
Thats all for now,

I tend to be too much of a rivet counter sometimes and I too had reservations. But I'm having too much fun to complain. Hat's off to the Devs, who took the gamble of disregarding input from us subsimers and built a masterpiece!

It's always refreshing to read a comment from someone who is just enjoying the game. There is a contrast with attitudes that are always looking for something wrong and even those who always want the next best thing - which is pretty much my ilk.
It reminds me that the sea is pretty blue on this side of the harbor and maybe I should just have fun playing for a while and relax a bit.

That makes two of us. I, too, tire of reading those useless rant posts by those mental giants.
With patch 1.4, it gives me endless hours/days of enjoyment. I run a clean shop. I keep games to a minimum. I have SH3 w/ GWX 2.0, SH4 with 5 mods - mostly sound mods, and BattleField 1942 Forgotten Hope MOD - that's it. Have a 500 gig hard drive and only using 80-gig of that space. PC runs fine, games run error free, and I keep myself on a SH4 mod diet - keep them to a bare minimum.
All these rants wear down my butt. I am convinced that the louder they are, it is someone that does not know how to properly maintain a PC/laptop and does not know their butt from a cigarette butt.

I'm a big believer in the KISS principle - Keep It Simple Stupid. Especially when it comes to the Microsoft/Intel/PC cartel.:damn::damn::damn:
I run a cut down version of XP on my gaming rig. (You can stick vista up Gates' a:o:o). It's not even connected to the internet. No bells, whistles, or bollux. And it runs fine. Can't remember the last time it crashed.
I do my best to let the future take care of itself. And above all I have never ending fun with all this brilliant stuff that you talented modders keep creating. This is supposed to be entertainment folks. Certainly isn't reality, and never could be.
Take care all

I also made the jump to 1.5 and it was not because I was looking forward to it, or because I was interested in the u-boat campaign (SH3 serves that purpose) it was because the modders who make the game what it really was meant to be have begun the migration to 1.5 and I wanted to go with them.
Having said that though, I was also impressed with the number of fixes and improvements that had been included for those ten bucks! The add-on is worth every penny and I am enjoying myself much more because of it. Purchased and downloaded it through subsim link (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=OZsBP3G/7yg&offerid=140504.10000551&type=4&subid=0) and very happy that I did.
If you have yet to upgrade, I can with good conscience, recommend that you do so.
Yeah I Bought the expansion just for the hell of it a few weeks ago even though I'm not really into the game as much as I used to and I have to say it was worth it, simply for the awesome flak guns on the german subs.

Bit the bullet as well. Still not sure about satisfaction level but if the ten bucks helps keep submarine games coming I can't go wrong. Not thrilled about the prospect of doing a reinstall at some point and having it barf thinking I am a pirate. I change systems like underwear. Being in the business it is just a writeoff so why not.
Good thing my weekend is fairly open!

I got the expansion a while back, too. I had my reservations but I actually do enjoy it. The Walther boat is pretty fun. I never really did play the U-Boat side much, even though I wanted to. I've been playing the US side of things when I do play. I haven't played in a while. I just burnt myself out installing different mods all the time and reconfiguring things (and experimenting even though I don't know what I'm doing (I can't help it. I have a compulsive need to tinker!)). I never really did "play" the game. I spent most of my time since I got it reconfiguring it that I just threw in the towel. The Type IX U-Boat is my favorite boat. I never used it in SH3 because of the painfully slow 1024x TC and long patrols. The Indian Ocean is a very nice break from the Atlantic. Plus, it is so weird to see Japanese destroyers and battleships up close without being shot at!

Sim :arrgh!:Definitely a fun game. Be careful and do not do what did initially with the Walter, I thought I could leave the turbine on, but realized real quick how fast the H202 runs out. Then it is back to slow speeds.

I frequent a forum about 2 stroke sports bike -which everybody knows are prone to engine destruction if miscared or abused- and the same happens there, lots of rants and terror histories about engine destructions. But then you realize most people on those forums got there precisely because they had a problem and wanted help, and are not representative of the inmense community of satisfied users  A reality check shows that: I'm having tons of fun with the game and some so called "bugs" I noticed for the first time when someone pointed them out. Never bothered me before, so they still don't spoil my enjoyment :D it's a game after all...and what a fun one!

Me too, but I also found a very good solution to have a clean running XP system. I made a clean install of XP plus all software I want to have (Not games, just Office and such) then unscrewed my hard disk and plugged it into my wife's PC. Made a backup of that clean install in a DVD and Presto! Each 6 months or so I remove the HDD, plug it into another computer and format the disk partition which contains windows, copying the back-up there instead. In less than 20 minutes I have again a fresh new Windows install running as fast as it ever did
