Are you sure you still have batteries/fuel left? Are the people crewing the engines still doing their job? Are your diesels repaired but not your electrics?
...Have you broken a mirror lately?

well i've fought off the destroyers ( i was forced to surface because i couldn't hold depth)i'm just thanking the stars i had a dedicated damage control crew and a good deck gun and 40mm AP rounds.
yeah ill load the save and see if i can get her running now.

funny
well alas, i wasn't able to get her to move, and got jumped by two more destroyers, they finally killed me on the bottom so i loaded the autosave when i left port
too bad too, because the defense of my boat was an Epic affair! heck i duked it out on the surface at 0 knots with two japanese destroyers and won!
i discovered the 5" gun was available (small consolation prize)
do you guys think i should trade a 40mm aa's for a dual "sheild" 20mm??
i guess ill go for atempy 2 to sneak into koror for a little photo shoot...i'd sat 1 knoe at peri depth should do it

I like the dual 20mm's over the 40mm gun. More lead in the air is better than a slow firing AA cannon. Besides, with the new super mods and the new Air Layer mod, it's becoming more dangerous to stay on the surface when aircraft are detected on radar. Just take her down and pop up an hour later. Just my 2 cents...

That was a good death. I probably would have "retired" that career and started up a new one personally, but that's how I like to play :D

I'll go the other way as AA guns are for shooting sampans and I want a heavy hitter that conserves ammunition.

I know that the 40mm quickly became popular with skippers and high command, because of its effectiveness in these rolls. I just like the MGs out of personal preference.
I have never come across an enemy sampan, yet, but most of my careers are far away from Japan.

yeah well my 40mm's saved me from the destroyers, the AP rounds they had actually was quite effective
actually, a 40 mm is a scary gun, a bushmaster round can go through 6" of reenforced concrete and airburst in the building
