lo all

have just started using the brilliant set keys programme last night.

i set "periscope depth"-"depth under keel" report-and "cut to outside view" under the existing "P" button on my keyboard.

its working fine ingame....but the depth under keel report is always 0 meters.

is there something i can do to fix this??

any help would be appreciated

cheers:up:

Ermm... You could stop dragging your keel on the sea floor... I know it's handy for scraping off the barnacles, but you've no room to maneuver....

Seriously, sorry. No idea.

Do you have officers manning the navigator and watch stations?
I have the depth under keel order tied to the crash dive key, and it works fine.

There's 2 depth under keels, the one you're using gives 0 depth, you want the other one.

That is correct. It has been so long ago that I started using this key combination, I forgot that one of the depth commands doesn't work.

It is indeed a very interesting tool. I experieced that the SHIII includes a makro function, it means you can assign more than one command to one keypress

Key X :
Man deckgun
+Fire at will
+Medium distance
+Aim waterline

Key Y :
Man Flakgun
+Fire at will
+Medium distance
+aim at any target
+aim approaching targets

You can combine "Ahead Flank" with "Normal Propulsion"
When I order Ahead Flank I wanna go my boat as quick as possible an dont care about battery charging.

And you can do much more things.

If SetKeys does not require your needs, try AutoHotkey.

lo friedl9te

set keys does float my boat mate.

what you posted above was just what i was after.

man deck gun-open fire and aim for waterline are good ideas...i think i'll try that too.

was just wondering what other kaleuns used..and if im missing something obvious thats gonna save me effort ingame.....i love now that, when submerging i get an instant depth under keel report.....the amount of times ive forgot to get one and crash dived to destruction doesnt bear thinking about!!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl: :rotfl:

The depth report when giving a dive command is a fine thing too. I will not miss it any more.

I like some of these ideas. Until now, I just used the program to remap the keyboard but not to create large key combinations.

Most of mine were just putting similar commands under the same key. Like:
q= open doors while ctrl+q = close doors.

F3 = attack view, ctrl+F3 = Obs view, shift+F3 = bridge view

s = surface, ctrl+s = periscope depth, Shift+s = snorkel depth

I run a logitech G11 keyboard and each of these keys are mapped to the boards G keys. this way, I can navigate the boat and change view screens with my left hand, while I mouse the speed, depth, and bearing controls with the right.

thanks for the ideas

I link "surface" and "lower whole periscope".

That prevents the whole 'cruising on the surface with my periscope still up' issue, which has sometimes been followed by the 'set up an attack, think you've foxed the escorts until you start getting damage reports and realise that you're still surfaced' issue.

Hmmm....

I *know* this used to work. At least a year ago.

I'm using Setkeys 1.3 but can't seem to find the "other" check depth option. The only one I see is "Report depth under keel" (about 65% downward, below navigation officer). This returns 0. And I cant find the other one. I hope I am blind, if so, at what % of scroll do i need to look more closely?

PS:

And only because I'm curious, why use Setkeys for "lower whole periscope" and "surface"? Isn't this already mapped to "CTRL-PgDn" and "s", respectively? At least it is for me.

Hi snwcrsh

The command you want is just before half-way down 45%, in setkeys commands.

"Get depth under sub keel"

The answer to the other question is that the command "surface" and "lower whole periscope" are tied to one key - i.e. the "s" key. When you hit the "s" key the boat will both surface and lower any periscope that is left raised at the same time. Stops accidently surfacing with raised periscope.

damn, i dont believe it. after reading the actual name + 45%, i startedsetkeys and found it under a second.

I just was not ABLE to find it before, even though I scrolled down one at a time :o Thanks, lifesaver that helps.

As for the other answer: "Ah!" ... Seems I didnt get the actual point. On the other hand, multikey-assignments are for a later stage. First, I need to get familiar again :-)

And I need this SetKeys to workaround OLCGUI which removed the weapons officer's butten to compute a target solution. Sometimes I need that.. should I run into something while other things need my attention (yes, TCx1 only :])

So, thanks for all the help (to all others, in all other threads as well) -- 20 minutes ago U-23 (fictional) set out again, for it's first patrol after the "system change"

Hopefully something to report within the next week. :-)

PS: And what the hell is wrong with my avatar? Btw, did you know that "Chess" who landed its only hit with "One Night in Bangkok" were the producers of ABBA?
