Hi to all . Have a small problem here and need some help. I'm running SH4 with RFB 1.4 3 14 .I've got the files activated in the following order RFB,RFB zones, and PE2.
Now any of the patrols i start every thing is fine ,but if i have to save and close the game when i start back up all the torps make a turn to port.
I have even tried reinstalling the game, and so to test it out I start a new career outside of harbor, open the tube doors and fire, all torps go stright, so i reload the tubes ,save the game and turn it off and on again, load the saved game and make the same shot ,but yet again it pulled way left.
Any help that you more seasoned Captains can offer would be great. and a big thanks in advance.
P.S This little issue helped me miss the Yamato the other night.:damn:
There is a much greater probability of gyro errors and circle runners in RFB than in stock.
Earlier in the war, deep runners are pretty much a given.
Also, if you you have anything other than 0 rudder, it will throw off your shots as the change in heading could not be compensated for in real time on WWII boats.
In your post it seems you are talking about a limited number of shots. If so, there's no way to tell if you are experiencing a bug, or if you had bad luck with the gyro error probability.
If you are talking about a large number of shots doing this with none of them going straight, then we need some more info:
1. Model of torpedo
2. Type of boat
3. Manual or Auto targeting
4. Date in the game
5. Turning or on a steady course

Its not just a couple of torps doing this. If i save my game, when I come back to it every torp on the boat will pull left. Also here is some of the info i have on this.
torp type MK14 (MK10 does seem to do this)
boat type everything except S boats (not tested a balao yet) both manual and auto targeting have this problem after a save
so far i have found the problem up to June 1942. It seems to go away in 1943,and i havent checked July through Dec 42 yet
And as far as turning goes Ive been careful to be a 0 rudder and for alot of the test ive been at 0 knots as well.
Well thats the info i have at the moment. Thank you for taking the time to try an help out.:D

Update.I found the problem goes away if i go back to either vanilla SH4 1.4 or RFB1.4 rc1.:damn:
Mods are often the source of oddities that not everyone experiences no matter how popular. I assume you manually open the tubes before firing.

Yes sir that i do. But the torps only get as far as the crewman saying "torpedo in the water" and off to the left they go.
Try removing all the mods and see what happens. If you still have the problem, then there is something wrong with your technique.

Are your torpedoes going to the right or the left? Do you find that they go deeper then what you set with the TDC? Do you find they premature a few hundred yards from impact? Do you find they just bounce off the target and your sonarman states with some remorse that the torpedo was a dud? Do you find the magnetic exploder does not work? Do you find that 3-4 torps out of your whole load actually worked? Are you PO'd as your nice fat tanker sails off into the sunset non-the-wiser? Do you feel like squeezing the life out of BuOrd for crappy torpedoes? If you answered yes to all these questions....welcome to early war torpedo functionality. There is none. RFB has a accurate failure rate in the early war years. I'm guessing this part of the mod is creating your problem....as it was intended. It make me sick as well and gives you a good idea of how bad the torps were. Enjoy:D
