I have a genuine legal bought for copy of MS Office which I bought when I was a student.
Now my wife went and chucked out the disk sleeve which had the activation serial number on it.
what can I do?

Don't know about getting a new activation key, but if you're stuck download OpenOffice, it supports most MS formats for free :)

Depending on the version (how old it is really), it should pop up a window that tells you to register and will try to do so online. Or, you can go online at MS and see if you can re-activate there. Otherwise, you'll have to call. I had the same problem with a client a couple of years ago and I ended up calling in for them.
Here's the entry page for their Office Suites: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/default.aspx

Office XP Pro so about 5 years old. I would think it's still available to register. I have the same version. I re-installed it last year and registered it online line through the Office application...

I have a blue edition version of Office 2007 (no serial needed) if you want to PM me.
A colleague/associate of mine uses it to help genuine folk who have lost serial keys etc. on legit copies.

Happened to my FSX. I just bought another one... They're cheaper than Office. This time the code isn't going anywhere: it's stapled inside the CD case.
