"A small boy in a green stadium has a yellow mouth. He has just finished his first ballpark hot dog at a Detroit Tigers game in 1948. He is very happy, but this is only the beginning. In the ensuing decades, he has consumed thousands more hot dogs, grilled and steamed, with or without relish, at funky stands, in backyards on Memorial Day and at a few glamorous restaurants literally putting on the dog."

I have to agree with the author here - just mustard , hold the relish.
The best hot dog I ever had was from a street vendor in New York. In fact I can say the same for cheese cake and pizza. Nothing here in SA comes even close. Oh, and another, a Tuna sandwich.
I miss hotdogs. Can't have them any more since my heart attack.
I like onions mayonnaise and sourkraut on mine :D

I've had a Speed's hot dog, don't know if it was the best I've ever had, but it was up there :)

Detroit Coney Island footlongs, with chili, onions, and mustard. Nothing comes close.
Same thing with Elias Bros. Big Boy burgers, and onion rings.

I put big Polish sausages or bratwurst on a bun, with mustard and ketchup, or chili, cheese and onions. Yum.
Stop it! You guys are killing me!

Here in Illinois we've got a restaurant chain called Portillo's and they sell some of the best hot dogs you have ever eaten. Great stuff. Actually, I think there are a couple of stores in California and Indiana too, so the wealth is spreading.
