Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election:

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
15% (no change)

OBAMA
28%

CLINTON
24%

How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN
15% (no change)

OBAMA
39.6%

CLINTON
39.6%

How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama or Clinton become president. The experts predict that "Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit."

INCOME TAX

MCCAIN
(no changes)
Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750

Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750

CLINTON

Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750

How does this affect you? No explanation needed. This is pretty straight forward.

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN
0%
(No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA
keep the inheritance tax

CLINTON
keep the inheritance tax

How does this affect you? Many families have lost businesses, farms and ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will not only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES BEING PROPOSED BY BOTH CLINTON AND OBAMA

* New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet
* New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already)
* New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)
* New taxes on retirement accounts
and last but not least....

* New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

Hope and change. Socialism will cost those who are successful. Might as well quit your decent paying job and discontinue saving money for retirement, let the progressives run it. They will do a swell job. Remember comrades demokrat Machtfrei.

Well, we all know how I feel about taxes in general, and about the people empowered to create and raise them.

On the other hand, I've never made $30,000 in a year, so I'm relatively unaffected.

FYI - Simply having the computer skills you do, and your general all around knowledge, you are easily worth more than that. You just need an area to apply it.

All of this adds up fast. From the feds to the local level. The thing that drives me the most crazy, are the people that raise the taxes, but write loop holes in the law so thay and their friends don't pay.

how about a Hollywood tax, but then again, they won't pay, now that I think about it, they'll just add to the cost so the end user pays:damn: .

Mm, I've been looking around and I can't find the source.

The language doesn't inspire much confidence, "The experts say...". I found these "experts", mind you, and it's from the Cato Institute. Those guys are opposed to just about every tax you can name.
EDIT - That's a bit harsh from me. Cato Institute are founded on libertarian principles, many of which I can get behind. We just don't see eye-to-eye on taxes.

New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!
Yah huh. Whoosh.

*A much later, much needed edit*

McCain is some sort of genius, I have to say.

He's going to keep throwing colossal amounts of money into Iraq, all the while a-cutting taxes at home. Attaboy!

What gets me is, how can you have socialism in the "Land of the Free, and the Home of the Brave"?

Socialism is utopian in nature. A nice idea, but not practical, as it will eventually lead to a totalitarian state. Remember, a wellfare state morphs into a ditatorship. But it was bound to happen eventually in America. How long did it take Rome to transform from a Republic to an Empire? 200 years, and corruption and greed on a grand scale along with abuse of power, and a lack on the part of most of the American People to quell these monsters, who are leading us down a path that should scare the pants off most people, just doesn't make sense.

I myself do everything I can to support those running for office, who still support the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence, but those cadidates have a better chance of having an engine fall off their planes at 30,000 than they do of ever getting elected. Why? Because they don't promise to give you everything. Clinton and Obama are promising the moon, but that money and those services have to come from somewhere.

It's a sad state of affairs. I wish these morons who are in the forefront would re-read or read if they haven't, Common Sense, The Federalist Papers, The Anti-Federalist Papers, and our founding documents, but that would require them to be people of higher ideals, similar to likes of Thomas Paine, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, Edmond Randolph, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and the rest who swore there names, lives, and fortunes to an indepentent America.

Here's a good one to go to:
