View Full Version : Another noob question

I'm trailing a convoy moving fast through the Luzon Straits by about 5-6 miles. I've got bearings on two destroyers and a passenger ship -- should I even bother trying to keep up above the waters? I have other convoys quite a long ways away that I can also look at (off Japan, actually).

Since I'm on a Luzon Straits patrol, should I stay in this area for 48 hours? And by doing so, what constitutes 'this area'?

Thanks in advance!

Taeghan,

There are some folks around here who can tell you exactly what the patrol requirements might be...as for myself, anytime I find a nice juicy target like a passenger liner, I go after it, regardless if it's outside of my designated patrol area. :yep: You can always sail back to your spot afterwards...

Either way...good hunting and good luck!

Thing is, it's now moving at fast and is ahead of me moving on the same bearing. So I'm chasing.

They maybe moving to fast....but if you can do an end around...go get them! No the directive to stay in a patrol are is just that, I usually try to plan my trip to the patrol area through some high traffic areas and pick up some kills on the way. I do then hang around the patrol until the time is fulfilled, report in get new assignment and rinse and repeat until the torps are gone or the damage is getting in the way.

Then back to port for R&R. Your the skipper, so be aggressive!

Gotcha. I'll try a wide loop around and see if that works.

How do you get a new assignment?

Status reports don't seem to do anything (unmodded SH4 1.4)

My first assignment was to land six soldiers south of Manila. Once done, I reported in and was given a new assignment of patrolling the Straits of Luzon. Sank a lone freighter before finding this convoy.
