NVidia drivers responsible for 30% of Vista crashes

Wasn't I just complaining about NVidia drivers the other day? More fuel to the fire. Their drivers suck! No other way to say it. :nope: :down:

Well that's funny, because when I had Vista, I had absolutely no problems with my Nvidia card. And that was ~6months ago. I doubt they downgrade their drivers. ;)

Besides, I dont get what's the point with these threads. They are just begging to catch fire.

I need new drivers for an 8800 GTS 512 MB. I want non beta/hacked drivers for my desktops Southbridge at home. Where are my monthly video card driver releases? What happened to NForce 4 and prior support?

:roll::roll:I'd have to say - Early Vista is not specified in the actual report, though it was part of it. It is all through 2007 for this pie chart.

This link you provided got it wrong.

ANd I still have drivers hacks on my machine after 1.5 friggen years!!!!!! And Nvidia was helping with the hack, but dropped it! What BS. Not to come down on you or anything, but as you can tell, I am completely frustrated with their lack of support. Or should I say - no support? I have incredibly buggy drivers for an 1575 chipset made by them, and only a hack has fixed my timing issue. This is even after they know about the problem - for 1.5 years!!!!

I understand your frustration... heck, I'd be frustrated too in your situation. ;) I'll just end my part of this "duel of the GPUs" by saying that IN MY EXPERIENCE, I've had no problems with Nvidia and naturally, every PC is different. Some work just fine and some have problems. I'm actually amazed how I've kept all my PCs intact. First of all, it's on 24/7 and atm, I dont have anykind of anti-virus program installed. :p Let's hope they get all the bugs ironed out soon.

I understand your frustration... heck, I'd be frustrated too in your situation. ;) I'll just end my part of this "duel of the GPUs" by saying that IN MY EXPERIENCE, I've had no problems with Nvidia and naturally, every PC is different. Some work just fine and some have problems. I'm actually amazed how I've kept all my PCs intact. First of all, it's on 24/7 and atm, I dont have anykind of anti-virus program installed. :p Let's hope they get all the bugs ironed out soon.DFI made the driver hack with NVidia's help, and ASUS just ignored it. Nice huh? The only downside is, even though I no longer get any SATA timing problems or the like, I traded that for the WIndows 'ding' minor error noise that comes on every 15 minutes or so, and comes on every 5 minutes when playing media. Nice trade huh?

One question if I may.....How come Nvidia are so popular and Vista has such a crap reputation then ?

Originally Vista had some teething problems with drivers. Most are fixed now. SOme are not. Some are not even fixed on XP as in my case!

I'm in the same boat. Running Vista Ultimate 32 with an 8600GT. Vista has never crashed in the three months I've been using it. Not one single crash. I have encountered problems in Battlefield 2 - it likes to crap out and give me memory errors after a while, but lowering the texture quality to 'medium' fixes that. That problem could be related to nVidia :huh:

I've run BF2 on GT8800 and had no problems. But like I said earlier, every PC is different. :yep:

My MS friend is bitching about his 8800 too - drivers! Imagine that??!!!

I'm not saying NVidia is bad, I'm saying I have issue with their drivers. I WANT MORE SUPPORT!!! That is the short answer.
