Does anyone know if the creaking sound of the uboat has any realtionship in the game to the escorts ASDIC? I always get a bad feeling when my boat starts to creak rather loudly when I turn rudder or submerge deeper, but this may have no affect on my noise profile.
Another question...does anyone know if being spotted briefly by a plane that heads off, will have a realtionship in the game to the position of nearby convoys and or escorts. In otherwords does the games AI do a job of tracking your boats movments across the open sea if spotted?
PS im new to this site and game, and am overwhelmed at what an awsome job people have done on modding this game and contributing to this site, as well as subsim for this forum. This has become my favorite game now by far.
Thanks very much!!!
Hi, from other sources, i know that the creaking noise should not be listened by DD.. but i could be wrong.
For the second question, i am pretty sure that if you are spotted by an aircraft, you have to expect an incoming DD in the zone of spotting, within some hour from the first spot. I don't think that you are really tracked, just a DD will be sent.
bye!

If you're spotted by a plane you'll usually get more planes sent to follow you. If you've got good AA guns and start shooting down the planes more will be sent. Depending on what setup you've got you can do a pretty good job of fending off planes if you've got a good flak crew. A IXD2 can be excellent at shooting planes down; though as you keep destroying their sorties eventually you'll get swamped by numbers. Instead of 1 or 2 planes coming you'll get 7-12 (or more) bombers coming after you that either force you down, or kill you whole deck crew (assuming they've been able to survive) and cause some major damage to your ship.

hey.
yeah i usually dont bother with planes at all and submerge briefly if they are spotted by the watch crew. From what Ive read of real subs, this was common practice, especially if crusing surfaced by day. Spotter planes was a big issue for them.
Also from what Ive read in the forums, planes do too much damage to your hull to justify attacking them.
I don't think creaking noises do anything in the game.
Airplanes or ships that spot you will draw other airplanes or ASW ships toward you if available.

Good answer....there is also a random % chance that other air assets will be called to join in the hunt for you. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

The max amount they will send airplanes after you is 50.
Yes, I tested that out.

Hi do you mean by this 50 KM or 50 aircraft?
I presume number of airplanes. The airplanes will fly a lot further than 50 kilometres.

The game engine places restrictions on the number of aircraft that can fly simultaneously from the same airbase.....3 to 4 is much more realistic http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif
