Greetings fellow kaleuns just thought id share with you my recent experience in this patrol.

Well i must say it went better than my first as i was ordered to patrol out to DT 23 out from lorient in my type Vii B weather was foul for like a week in transit missed two large convoys because of bad weather returned to lorient highly embarrassed to have full load of arsenal still in tack, How emabarrassing with the great otto Kretchsmer at the helm , But hey this did happen to some commanders IRL not only with 1 patrol but successive patrols as well.

The 2nd patrol took me to east of the azores again BTW its NOV 40 but to DT23 again weather abit better in transit nothing for like a week no contacts thjen boom steereed straight into the path of a 15 ship convoy 5 wide by 3 deep only 2 escorts weather clear 10pm so straight out of the commanders handbook i set up for a 90deg aob starboard shot on the first 2 that come into range the first a medium cargo GHRT 4500 aim forward of aft mast at 1000m LOs!!! while that was away lined up a coastal merch and Los !!! saw first impact BOOOMM ship then proiceeded to have secondary explosions and she wenty down within minutes

I then proceeded to move into the middle of the convoy when my watch officer ordered alarm destroyer off port bow setting up to ram i go deep but she was onto me with an accurate run i then hear my next victim proceed to the bottom Shes going down !!! cheers from my crew but it was all in vain as io had sustained heavy damage and flooding succumbed me to the bottom never to recover. Another Uboat ace lost (pity my scores didnt reflect his score IRL)

What an awesome game im enjoyng it so much am also reading Hitlers Uboat war by clay blair and what i am reading is happening in the game UNREAL.

Cheers

Welcome aboard.

Sorry about your loss. I just started another war career and I am in the U-99 !!! what a coincidence!

Good choice on the Blair books. Have you read his other two volume set on the American Sub experiences "Silent Victory"?

Dry off, get another boat and get back out there and sink a few!

Well, at least you got rammed: I just managed to crash into a small merchant whilst on a lock for another ship 2 km away, d'uh.

The game is fanstastic, completely agree: first game I have played where the AI doesn't actually feel like AI but a real foe (especially when the searchlights suddenly get switched on when your first eel hits the metal), with sometimes freaky behaviour, sometimes deadly intent.

Happy sailing

Hehe, three of us using the same boat U-99  My last patrol I won the lottery and got PA AN18 starting March 31'st. Made it into Scapa Flow just in time that the fleet hadn't left yet for Norway. Complete turkey shoot with 2 BB's moored, and an extra annoying carrier (that was constantly harrasing me with swordfishs'), floating dock and some Aux. Cruiser's. Ran out of torps with several juicy targets still there waiting :shifty:
