September 1940 1300 hours:
A Small convoy Comprising of three merchant ships and two escorts form up in the Firth of clyde outbound for the United States.
The convoy will be come known as PK-20.
In the early years of the war there were U boats with skippers who were un tested in war, there were a few successes but most depended on luck rather than skill, and there were too few to to be any real danger just yet.
On the evening of September 15th 1940 the Rose a flower class corvette was escorting PK-20, she was the tail ship looking after the rear of the convoy, not that any U boat could come near mind or so we thought.
The wind got up and it began to rain and while maybe a hindrence to some people it did us just fine, no U boat could possibly try and attack us in this weather.
The night drew slowly in and now as well as bad weather we had the cover of darkness to come, and then thats when all hell broke loose.

The convoy on round up.
Just before Dusk we sighted what was an odd shape in the distance, then a loud explosion came from one of the merchant ships, she had been hit, action stations was sounded immediatly and i broke off to investigate.

I broke away and sped toward the object and it was then i was hit, i orderd the main 4inch gun to fire back and by this time the other escort vipress had come to assist, the guns fired but we could barely hit then things took a turn for the worse, the german submarine torpedoed vipress.

After an hour of encircling the german submarine i managed to land a few good hits from the pompom and she sank in all we lost two vessels and alot of men.
