i am thinking about going up to the Boeing Museum in April or May, as I have a case of Eugene cabin fever:dead: . I was thinking to myself; "We (subsim members) should get together for a lunch or dinner." What do you think?

Anybody interested? Torplexed? I talked to subman1, but his wife owns him til June.(?)
The only catch is, it has to be on a Monday or Tuesday, so dinner might work out better.

Let me know. The date is very flexible.:hmm:

Hey, count me in. I'm in Twin Falls and a ride up to Seattle on the Beemer would be a welcome break... Would probably have to be in May for me. Monday or Tuesday is cool but need to plan so as not to conflict with my driving schedule...

What's your driving schedule?

Looks like the 4th through the 7th of May might/would work... Otherwise the 15th through the 19th is next but that spans a weekend...

I could do a date in May. It'd have to be dinner since I gotta fight my way north from Tacoma after work.

Too bad they towed away that cool Soviet relic on the waterfront. That Foxtrot class boat was the best sub show in town. :damn:

What do you guys think about the 5th (May)? What are some cool resturants near the museum? If it's just a few of us, maybe we could carpool someplace near by? Just an idea. In a perfect world, it would be cool if we went to the boeing museum, then hopped on the Ferry to Bremerton to the Turner Joy, and fit lunch or dinner in there some place.

But I want to keep it simple, so that limits stuff. I'll probably fly in (I have access to really cheap airline tickets:cool: ) and get a rental car and stay in a hotel.

I guess everything depends on how ambitious we want to be.:hmm: Now if I can get torplexed to call in sick, and kidnap subman1....:hmm: We could almost cause as much mayhem as the october meeting...almost as much.

I guess we'll shoot for the 5th of May. What percent of the day will you (everybody interested) have free? I need to look into the museum hours (make sure it will be open!:o ) Then we can hammer out the details.

Dammet.. wish I could be there...
I love WA.. plan to retire there in 5 years.

I'll ride the Beemer up on the 4th and find a hotel for the night. That'll give me all day on the 5th to hang out... and then I'll ride back home on the 6th...

If anyone wants to share hotel room costs on either night, depending on how things work out, I'm open.

BTW, seeing the Foxtrot thread, you know, there's always the USS Pampanito down on Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco....:hmm:

! You know, everytime I've been in San Francisco, my schedule has kept me away from that boat... and to make matters worse, I drive right past the USS Drum in Mobile Alabama as well...!

I'm still serious about this. When my wife gets back, I'll work out the details and see if it fits with everybody else. I'm shooting for Monday the 5th may.
@ Deepiron. If you're taking time off work, maybe we could go up to keyport to the undersea weapons museum or the Turner Joy?

Sounds great! I've never seen the undersea weapons museum... Stay serious and work out the details... I'm still interested. I'll be on and off the road the next couple of weeks but I'll check this thread when I'm home...

Not too far from the museum (about 15 min or less) is the perfect place - http://maritimebrewery.ypguides.net/page/nun7/Jolly_Roger_Taproom.html

Damn good beer with damn good food! :D And cheap too!

Walked out of there with a bill for $60 and that included a case (24) of Imperial Pale Ale, and food and beers for 2! So I'm guessing 4 beers (2 each) and a ton of food cost me about $30-$35.

Nothing against going to the Flight museum, but as most of are sub guys it would kinda make sense to go to the Undersea NAval museum or something along that nature.

It's not out of the question, but i don't think I can fit all in one day. We could drag this out to a second day. I like the flight museum, because I've only been there once (I've been to Keyport 3 time), there is more to see at the FM than UNM. Although the price is perfect fot the USM (free still?). If we had the time, this is what we would do:
1. FM
1.5 Dinner/ lunch with everbody.
2. Turner Joy
3. UNM

@ Subman1 (and everybody) That place looks like a good choice, it fits with the theme. I don't drink, but it looks like a fun time and it's all about the comradeship. If subman1 can escape his wife, so far it looks like 4 of us. So, would it be easier to meet at one place then carpool to dinner? just a thought:hmm:

I can probably get in a second day but I can't commit at this point. However, whatever we CAN do will be fine with me!

I'm shooting for this to be a "day" thing, but if everybody has the time, we could throw additional stuff in the mix. My big worry is planning a bunch of stuff and then spend the day sitting in Seattle traffic:dead: :damn: . I have experienced that once and that was enough. I mainly want to keep it easy.:)

I never been on the Concord that they have parked there now. I planned on making a trip on that thing, but they pulled the plug. I would have paid the money to say I've been at Mach 2 and its no big deal! :D

*sigh* Long ago Bremerton had the mother lode of vintage warships. The Missouri and the New Jersey side by side. I remember taking a long bus ride to get a glimpse thru the fence. TheTurner Joy is nice, but not quite the substitute.

Nice bike! So far we have: Me, You (DI), Torplexed, and Subman1? going. I need to write a note for subman1 to get him outta work.:hmm:

Tenative schedule: monday may 5th Flight Museum, then dinner at that pirate bar that subman1 recommended. I really want to fit the Turner Joy in, but that means getting there and that will chew up some time:roll: . I just need to decide if I want to fly or drive there. I know by this Monday or Tuesday.

Thx for the bike compliment. I've ridden a lot of cycles over the years but my R1100RS is a sure winner for sport touring.

For now, the museum. It's really easy to get to. I also need to choose a hotel:ping: , but I'll decide then when I know if I'm flying or driving.

Here's your note to get out of work.

Dear Mrs. Subman1,

Please excuse subman1 from his daily chores on May 5th, 2008. We are having a subsim field trip, and subman1 is needed as a guide for the dangerous Seattle traffic. Thank-you,

Nikimcbee

@ Torplexed: How well do you know the area around where the FM is located? Would you be willing to choose someplace to eat?

DeepIron
04-07-08, 09:48 PM
Bad news guys... I just got off the phone with my brother. He and his wife are going to be driving through my area that week and they were planning to stop by and visit for a couple of days... I don't get to see him much, as he lives in Alaska, so I'm going to have to cancel my trip to Seattle.

I hope this doesn't screw up anything for you but I thought I'd better let you know right away. Perhaps I can arrange to meet up with later in the year...

This is still open. I'll be arriving in the morning and leaving around 6pm. So if you want to meet at the museum for lunch or something, send me a PM before this sunday.

And if anybody wants a photo of something, let me know.

Look at it as a subsim cinco de mayo party:rotfl: .
