Watching it right now - HMCS Regina just put the first Sea Sparrow into her, and is now opening up with her 57mm.

There are some CF-18's in flight also hoping to have a go at her, and a US Sub (I missed the boat's name) waiting, in line (literally, behind the surface ships) for a go with a mk.48.

I knew she was (had been) sunk, but I did not know it had been a live fire exercise. And I sure didn't know the whole prep and sinking had been filmed for History Channel - at least she didn't go down in obscurity!

I watched it, too. I enjoyed it. Kind of sad to see a ship go down like that, but what a way to go!

The sub mentioned in the documentary was the USS Topeka.

Watched that the other month, now watching Sea Patrol

Pity the fly-boys got a go but the Bubbleheads didn't. Also novel that she was hit with her own gun.
