This story has been going on for a while now but I think that its shameful that these brave men are denied an equal pension to their British comrades and have only been awarded an automatic right to citizenship if they retired after 1997. :nope:

Sad story. If there were ever people that earned it...

Saw this story in the express the other day. They get paid less than the illegal immigrants that come to the UK. They marched on 10 downing street. Many gave back their medals, as they no longer felt proud to wear them. For all they've done for this country, its an absolute disgrace they aren't given the rights of any other soldier in the British Army.

Indeed, the Ghurkas the feared world wide. They are the unsung heroes of the British Army I think, they do an absolute sterling job. And to think they do it more or less voluntarily. There are 30 applications for each position in the Ghurkas, to be treated like this after what they've done for this country is a big slap in the face.

Shameful the way the UK Government treats the Armed Forces.

Particularly shameful the way it treats the Ghurkas.

These men deserve nothing short of full UK citizenship if they want it. Regardless of where they settle after they leave the Army they should receive a full and equal Pension the same as any other soldier. These men fight for our country and we treat them like dirt.

Yet more proof that the Military Covenant has been well and truly broken.

So wrong.

If a foreigner serves in the U.S. military they are fast tracked to citizenship as it should be. The Gurkha's have been an elite unit of the UK since 1817 for the East India Company and the British army since 1857. It's only fair to offer them fast track citizenship.

I'm all for offering them equal pensions and citizenship.

Just remember that means higher taxes.

While I have the greatest respect for, and awe of, the Ghurkas, is the intent not that they return to Nepal after their service is over?

Rubbish. :stare:

The answer is simple, we keep them and get rid of the stinking nappy wearing wet PC liberal turd MP's and councilors and dump them on some deserted Island with a box of matches for which the result would be this, plenty of room to take all the Gurkha's in. By getting rid of the waste we save ourselves and pot full of money so the result would be lower taxes. :p

Back in the real world just reduce the number of immigrates that move here which would allow us to take in the Gurkha's. :know:

PS: All our Labour/Conservative governments have treated them like sh*t and that is a fact. :nope:

The short answer is to show the assylum seekers and illegal immigrants where the door is... then we will have plenty of room, and money for them that deserve help. i.e said Ghurkas.
