Hi, im new to SH4 and have a couple questions. I run the RFB 1.4, RSRD and ROW PE mods.

First question, are their invulnerable ships in the game? I found a japanese merchant while doing patrol and found that it would not die. 4 torpedoes went right through the hull of the ship and did not explode, they literally went right through the ship model and continued going on afterwords. Then I tried using the deck gun and spent about an hour (real time) shooting at with no effect. I finally gave up on it after I was completly out of torpedoes and deck gun ammo.

Second, is there any way to disable manual targetting in the career mode with Real Fleet Boat on? I selected Normal difficulty and it still made me use manual targetting. I would like to learn how to use manual but right now im not good enough at it to use in my career. I like to practice with missions and sub school for that.

Can't help you with your first question, but as far as manual targeting goes you can deselect it in the game options screen. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

With RFB I don't think you'll have much luck with the deck gun. The deck gun in RFB IMO, it is mostly for finishing off a target. The power of the shells has been reduced from stock - vanilla SH4 to more closely reflect reality.

Yes, I have fired 6 + torpedoes at a target without sinking it. Such is life... lol

Happy Hunting!

In career mode click on the radio on the shelf (left side of screen) while in your office before going out on a patrol. You can change the difficulty options there.
