Says a man who never actually fought in a war.

If the politicians want this battle to continue, then by all means, continue. Just remove the troops and get YOUR military gear together. Bush can lead them charging up some god-forsaken hill. He thought it would be a great experience, so why miss out, Bush?

Quote from a favorite Russian song comes to mind right away...

...Soon we'll ask all of them, and all of them will answer
I am prepared to die for my dear motherland
Alas at home, I have a wife and children
I am prepared to die for my poor motherland
Alas at home, I have a wife and children

Well, thank God, democracy is.........

-Yuri Shevchuk, "Visiting at an FSB General's"
and also

Eighteen years is not too much
When you're wandering the street without money
But so little when your heart stops
And the country throws you a plastic rag

The country sings them rock-n-roll songs
Tells them that it will be alright
The country yells them that we're all together
But it all just sounds awfully banal...

The guys died, horribly
The guys died, simply
And not all of them were outwardly handsome
And not each of them was of tall stature

-Yuri Shevchuk, "Guys"

That's all I have to say on this romanticism spiel, from my cultural background

Born as an idiot, living as an idiot, idiot as president, will die as an idiot. Somebody should have kicked him in the a$$ ferociously some decades back and push his idiot's nose deep into the dirt - to make him inhaling the scent of reality.

Only those with no experience of war, can admire and desire it.

Here's one reason we're looking forward to Jan. 20, 2009: Finally, President Bush will stop sucking all the irony out of the room and writers can have some back.

^in response to Bush's speech^

Didn't he have his chance?

Bush ditched military service, just like most every other poltiitian from his day. Joined the Texas Air guard to avoid getting drafted, then pissed around with that so they couldn't send him anywhere, and ended up getting out on a medical or some such BS excuse.

Theres a reason why his so called "service" record is sealed from the public. Truth is he's a draft dodger like the rest of em. Only he was smarter in the way he went about it. Hell even John Kerry has more of a service record to speak of then Bush does. So yeah, Bushy boy had "his chance".
