Hans Rose

Does anyone know the fate of U-Boat Commander Hans Rose. I read an article about him and how extroadinary his activities were in WWI but he seems to dissapear off the radar after May 1940 when he was in charge of a U-Boat training flotilla for 3 months. I was wondering given his chivalrous nature if he fell foul of the Nazi's

All I know is that Rose was involved in the NSDAP since 1930, I think and he was Sturmbannführer in the SA. But I don't know when he did what.
