Guys, this one is new. I reinstalled SH4 a month ago, have gone on several patrols. Taken damage a few times and seen it repaired (if possible) relatively quickly.

Last night, I began a new patrol out of the Malaysian base. Steamed north and happened upon a carrier group in shallow waters off the northwestern shores of Borneo. Perhaps because of being close-ish to land, they were going slow... about 11kn. So I sped north of them to wait. Took my time trying to get a fair solution and timing their turns, and fired a full salvo on spread before moving for deeper waters. 1 torp missed two Shikaku and a Maya within FEET of their sterns. Two crippled a Maya, which puttered around with its stern underwater for 20 minutes before sinking, and the fourth dropped the tanker.

I had to beat feet to get out of there and had a running gun battle with three destroyers who came after. I dropped one at range (with me gunning, since AI sucks past 8000), then went under to evade. Sadly, I did not realize I had the wrong scale depth meter up and we nosed into the bottom at 7kn. I kept making turns, running up to speed, then coasting and got away from the destroyers after a good half hour of slowly playing out distance.

But here's the problem. From the F11 view, I can see a hole in the bow. The fore torp room is taking on water slowly. The bulkhead has about 33% damage. Main pump is only 5% or less, and the fore battery is even less.

NO ONE IS REPAIRING ANYTHING THOUGH.

I've swapped the repair crew, turned them on/off, engaged/disengaged silent running, etc. Nothing. I'm used to getting a thing that tells me how long until an item is repaired but I'm not getting that now. What gives?

Ok, great. Let me eat my words. I fired up the game again and now they DO work. Though I noticed that at one point the crew assigned "flashed" in their compartment boxes.

Also strange, when I give an order I get a lot of repeated vocals until it is done. Yes sir! Yes sir! Yes sir! Yes sir! ...done...

Ok, so now my question is on flooding. The bulkhead and pump are fixed.... fore torp remains flooded, fully. Can I submerge, or would I sink? Can they pump it out? Why aren't my crew in there taking damage? How are they still able to work if it's flooded? This doesn't make sense.

If the pumps and bulkhead are now fixed, it will eventually pump itself down. No idea how long it will take, though.

Mmm, after a few hours it miraculously was gone. Though so was the hole in the bow.

Ah well, I'm not complaining about that part anymore. ;)

Strange, I could make a post almost identical in symptoms. In addition, my Silent running only rigs for silent running, it wont "secure from silent running", and when I reload the game (surface or submerged), the repair crew starts fixing things and I am out of silent running. No I wasnt submerged when I saved.

Do you have any mods running?

I have the same 'wont come out of silent running' thing going on though my speed isn't limited I can't get anyone to reload torps........

The visible damage goes away after you save and reload but your hull is still weaker than when you started.

PeeWee I don't mean to be simplistic but I've done this before: The autoloading has to be turned on on your orders bar. After I got through complaining at my computer, I figured out I didn't have it on.
