Hi all,

Just dug up SH4 again now its "playable" and just done my first war patrol and sunk 2 merchants and a passanger liner escorted by 4 destroyers headed for Borneo..

Returned home and was awarded the Purple Heart..
This is the part I do not understand..
No crew were wounded or killed. we suffered no damadge what so ever..

Only attack on me was by a few A/C and every time I crash dived in time so they coulden't bomb me.

Being British I am not 100% on US medals but i thought that the Purple Heart was only awarded as a result of being wounded or killed by direct action from the enemy in combat.

Can anyone throw any light on this?

The medals are not based on real medals nor on real world basis for receiving them. On my first war patrol, I received the Medal Of Honor - all I did was sink a couple of small tonnage coastal freighters, and burn up tons of diesel fuel.

It seems that crew members get purple hearts for stubbing their toes on the hatch gratings - perhaps during a crash dive? Just to at least make it (a little) more then a mere boo-boo.

Any mods to sort this out?

You're not alone. I get the purple heart after EVERY mission. I also am given 2 or 3 to hand out to my non injured crew. Definitely a bug.
