Yes - they will have one sometime between there and 2012. I will personally do my best to avoid using Vista at all on my main machine. I have a laptop out here with it loaded, but I mainly use it for apps like its diskpart program.

I miss 98. :(
Really? I booted up SH2 yesterday, and it loaded in seconds on my XP. On 98 it took forever for me, and then didn't run without fixes and fiddling.
I'm happy with XP.

Oh no, no, no!
It's not rational, I just dislike change.
XP is much better.

I miss 98. :(
The only thing I miss of 98 was the ability to run Microsoft Space Simulator. :(
Sadly on xp I've never been able to make it run, not even on virtual pc or dos box.
In the end it was a small price to pay for STABILITY and so I ditched 98 for Xp the moment it was released (yeah I was crazy for change :rotfl: ).

it's the Microsoft cycle...98 was a disaster, 2000 was great. ME was a disaster, XP was great. Vista is a disaster, the new one will be great.

 Your idea of "great" is obviously very different from mine. About the last half-way decent operating system to come out of Microsoft, IMO, was DOS-5.

2000 and XP have been great for me. Especially XP. I've yet to have a real issue with it.

Try Orbiter. It's free:

Thanks for the link  but I'm already an orbiter user since early 2003 (i found out about orbiter accidentaly looking for a way to make MSSS run on my computer).
Orbiter is cool, but Microsoft Space Simulator was in a league of its own.
Call it nostalgia, but playing MSSS in svga 800x600 with no 3d acceleration and a whole galaxy to explore was such a great experience.
Man how I wish MS had continued the development of this space simulator, in my opinion it was way better than flilght simulator.

Seems that Windows Vista will be a relatively short lived one
Congratz to all windows user
If I'm right, the new windows will be a resource saving one, after microsoft recifying its system resource hog policy. It is said that the new windows core is only 50Mb in size.
In that case, most current systems can enjoy the benefit of the new system.

PS. I loved Space Sim back in the day too - the UFO's, etc. Anyway, I will have to unbury that software or find it on a retro site first. I assume its a DirectX problem though, so it may be unsolvable. DX was supposed to be backwards compatible, but its truely not.
