Hi All. Maybe someone will have some ideas on this problem -I'm stumped. I used SHIII regularly a couple of years ago. Only a little in recent times.

Since last used I've changed mother board for Asus A7N8X-E. And 2 Gig of fast RAM. The graphics card for Nvidia 7800GS Geforce with 512Mb card mem. The hard drives remain the same as does everything else (I'm pretty sure)

Now the SHIII wont run! Clicking on the desktop icon results in the "Disc check" screen appearing and then a mish mash of green and pink checKer board like squares across whole screen followed by lock up.

I've un installed ALL SHIII with the uninstaller and searched for any other files connected (I think I've removed anything else) I have latest Nvidia drivers and M/Board drivers.

I've re installed the program SHIII - followed by the most recent patch (4b I think) before trying to run the game...... same problem!

Reading the liturature that came with the game, I was wondering if possibly the game is not compatible with the chipset on the new card/motherboard. Can anyone help please? Even if it's only to let me know if others are able to run with similar graphics card/mother board to mine.

One other thing that may have effect on the game - I've recently updated my anti virus program....... my other programs all seem to work OK including Flight Sim stuff.

Thanks for reading this far.

Regards, Blue

I have an ATI card, but some people really have a problem with the Nivda cards, and they have to use older drivers.

I have a GeForce 7300gt no problems . There is a free program called uninstaller or something like that. I had to use it to remove SHIII files the uninstall left in the registry.

Thanks guys....... all help appreciated.

What drivers are you using with the 7300GT please?

Also it would be useful to know the name of the program or where you downloaded it. I could try that as well.

Any further suggestions welcome......

Regards, Blue.

Sounds like a video driver issue. I have a 7800GT I bought about 2 years ago and am still using the same drivers that came with it. Could be there are still stuff from the old card on your computer.

Thanks Smokin'.

I thought I'd got rid of the old drivers before loading the new..... I can unload/reload again though - certainly can't hurt as it's frustrating the way it is as I can't use the game at all.

Keep your ideas coming - if I solve it I'll post to let you know. Most grateful for the help so far.
