I was sitting and chatting with somebody about SH1 and SH4, and how i would like to see some features of SH1 in 4. But I just realized you have the PPI for the SJ right off the bat. If I recall correctly but part of the Improved SJ was the installation of the PPI into the sub. I also remember the SD was omni directional it actually had a line display looking like the SJ's radar display that nobody uses, giving range but no direction. So guys feel lucky you get a directional SD and a PPI display with a normal SJ.

Yeah, I remember starting out with NO SJ radar, then getting SJ with the A-Scope installed and a bearing indicator, and then eventually the PPI scope. It was definitely something to look forward to. :ping:
What I did like about having the A-Scope was that different targets had different amplitudes on the scope. If a carrier was being escorted, it was easy to spot the bearing of the big guy vs the DD's.

Plus the A-scope was really good on getting a better idea on the range while PPI was much better for situational awareness. Oh and I loved how the radars in SH1 would show the coast and islands. something I miss dearly in SH4

Yeah. I was meaning to ask about the lack of land masses showing up in radar.
I'm also missing the A-Scope for the SD radar. :(
There's a LOT of missing features about the radar sets in SH4. As it is right now, the radar we have is hardly any better than the latest in the German radar sets.
