View Full Version : Need help...voice speak programs?
Long ago I had on the commodore a program that, when typing a text, would read it with a voice. The voice could be modulated to be male, female, yelling, whispering, etc...
Now I would be interested in something similar in order to create voices for a little sound mod for naval games. A google search is impossible for me because I have no idea how those programs are named in english, so can anyone help and point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Is this the type of thing your looking for http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1817/thinkbigsw1yo4.gif

Here you can enter text online and download it as mp3 files:

There are some voices you can choose from and the results can be quite decent, especially if you edit them afterwards to sound like coming from a radio or something like that.
You might want to check the terms of use (http://public.research.att.com/%7Ettsweb/tts/faq.php#WebPolicy) since you want to use it for a sound mod.

If running Windows hit the start key and type in the search box narrator. This doesn't actually say the words but it does echo keystrokes.
Thank you, that is more or less what I was looking for

If you want it to read your docs, you can also get MS's speech SDK for free that will also read things for you, and it can also learn to recognize your voice - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5e86ec97-40a7-453f-b0ee-6583171b4530&displaylang=en
