My "Top 10" Favorite SH4 moments that keep me hooked on the game:
================================================== ==

10. Watching a ship lift out of the water when a torpedo detonates under her keel and breaks it.

9. Having a destroyer accelerate to high speed to avoid a torpedo, only to do a 180 and get nailed by it on the other side.

8. Splitting a ship in half and running my boat submerged between the sinking sections.

7. Slipping a torpedo under a destroyer to hit the freighter/tanker/aircraft carrier on the other side.

6. Sinking an entire convoy from under the noses of 6 destroyers and slipping away to leave them alone in their shame. (Once sank an entire task force at night, in the rain, and high seas without ever getting spotted by the DDs!)

5. Hitting a destroyer in the stern when she's moving at high speed and watching her still doing 9 knots with her stern under water and her bow jutting up in the air 45 degrees!

4. Watching aircraft carriers blow to bits when the AV fuel catches fire.

3. Slipping into Tokyo harbor and attacking the moored fleet.

2. Slipping out of Tokyo harbor!

and my number one SH4 moment.......

1. SINKING THE YAMATO!!!!

(okay, I confess I haven't actually sunk the Yamato yet but OH MAN I CAN"T WAIT!!!!)

Since I've only been playing a short time, I was curious what other Captain's favorite experiences are...:arrgh!:

My favorite moment might just be when I hit a ship in the bow or stern, and it sinks vertically, with one part sky-high. Would be funny to see when 2 ships do it at the same time, and then submerge right in between them :p

My favorite memory was picking up the game, getting home only to find out my rig was on the deep end of running the game with any sense of fluidness. A few cuss words and off to the store with the checkbook. Grabbed a new vid card plunked it in. Fired up the game and WOW... look at the nice graphics.

I had to laugh at your DD dodging a torp only to swing around and get nailed by the same torp. I had this happen before. :rotfl:

Getting a medium range ship spotted alert and rubbing my hands with glee only to find it to be a Japanese destroyer :88)

Finally FINDING the Yamato, then watching the Yamato sail away after 11 hits...

Somehow, that was one of my all-time "gaming moments." :yep:

Also, seeing my first ROW sunset....sublime...

My favorite moment was waiting ahead of a convoy in the fog, waiting to do an unseen sonar only attack. When my target was 1500 yards away I began pinging him for precise bearing and range, when he suddenly turned toward and accelerated to 30 knots.

I dove and squirmed for my life, avoiding over 100 incredibly well-placed depth charges for a couple of hours before I escaped to regain my breath.

My second favorite moment was the first time I used WernerSobe's sonar only targeting to plow three torpedoes of three shot into the side of a merchant!

My fave moment was last night. With my S-boat I was heading South towrds Aparri, Luzon and there was this Seaplane Tender going 7 knots with an escort of 3 subchasers and I Minesweeper. Well, I ran my engines at Flank Speed surfaced and headed towards the Tender. I got as close to 7000 yards when I decided to submerge. The TF detected me at 3000 yards and began zig-zagging. The escorts came looking for me with searchlights. 4 Mk 10 torps and 1 big Tender in orange fireball became my latest favorite moment.:yep:

Pretty cool! I don't think they ever managed to do that in real life.

Running the game soon after Dave's untimely passing and seeing the most spectacular sunset that I've ever seen in the game. :D

Seeing it become the great game that it is :yep: Those that have been playing since 1.0 know what I am talking about. It's not where you start, rather where you finish that matters, and SH4 is right up there with best of them :D And it's not even close to being finished.
