Was doing my final naval acadamy mission~Convoy and all was going normall, Sunk the medium freighter and dove to 120 m's, played cat and mouse. Got depth charged a bit. Then I heard the big guns! Hit the outside veiw and just laughed as this armed trawler unloaded on a destroyer and damn near sunk it! Its back end was level with the water..blew off the mast. The Trawler was firing with everything it had, Machine guns, cannon, you name it. The destroyer never fired back.
As I surfaced they were out of visual range but I could still see a flash every ten seconds on the horizon of that trawler bagging his first destroyer.:lost:

had the same experience in the very same mission :yep:

Have not come across this in a real patrol though... was kinda funny to hear them beat up each other while I was sitting down there doing necessary repairs

Yep, this is a 'function' of the stock game.

Basically, if an Allied unit should happen to damage another Allied unit, they become enemies for the next 24hrs game time.

If you want to see it happen on the full campaign, next time your inside a convoy, surface next to a merchant or DD and stay there just long enough to draw the attention of something that can shoot at you. They will hit the vessel you're next too and therefore go at each other.

Nothing quite like starting an argument then running off just as the balloon goes up :rotfl:

I'm envisioning a custom mission with concentric rings of ASW vessels. Your sub starts out in the middle and immediately crash dives.
Maybe even some Patrol Craft in the space between rings for added variety.

I watched it happen once in the 'Happy Times' scenario. Fun stuff.

In fact I've had a lot of interesting experiences with that scenario.
