A couple fleet boat questions

I saw Type941's fleet boat thread, but didn't want to hijack it. I was recently doing a career patrol last night and finally went to Davy Jones locker. I spotted a destroyer in the distance and thought I was far enough away (didn't feel like diving). Well, he spotted me and it was all over. Mainly my own mistake since I dove to deep. :oops::damn: Needless to say, USS Pike is now on eternal patrol. :-? I was trying to decide which sub I wanted to command and wanted the Balao. I chose Brisbane in 1944. The sub was still black. When does the color change happen? It also still had the conning tower with the portholes. I don't really care for that tower. When can I change that, if even possible? I didn't see it in the list with other sub upgrades.

The balao only has one design of conning tower. Its major difference is in its paintjob. They grey/balck MS32 paintjob being applied during a refit.

Unlike SH3 where you could pick and choose your tower, the games structured to portray wartime modifications. For your tower to change, you have to get a refit.

Weither or not you get a refit depends on if a refit you dont have is available, and is decided randomly when you first dock at the the conclusion of a patrol. Let me say that again.... "award" of a refit is random, and the chance for it to occur, is at the conclusion of a patrol when you dock to end the patrol.


Here's a picture i made of the refit schedule for the Gato class a bit earlier in TM's development, it is NOT accurate in its dates, only in what refits are available. (as ive changed it a number of times and not updated the pictures)
