Is it still using retarded hitpoints on ships? WP says it's going to use a "realistic damage model" but I fondly recall seeing some rather horrifying pictures of ships with "health bars" over them.

Honestly, the LAST place any of us should ever that stupid D&D/table-top RPG holdover (hit points/health bars) is a naval sim.

Not sure, I think it's only at strategic level where you are controlling multiple boats, I hope it is an option and we are not stuck with it!

Nope. This time no green bars on the ships. Looks like they have come to their senses finally.

After this long development the game should at least be decent, otherwise it's going to be a really embarassment for Akella!

I'm not so sure, remember the game operates on three different modes... sim mode, tactical mode and strategic mode with slightly different huds etc. I think all of the latest shots are from sim mode.(but I hope you are right!)

This game looked so good in the beginning, and now ... bland. "Never seen before 3D water quality"? Uhm ...

The fact that it is multi platform is proof that it will not be a good simulator. Sadly.

it is multi platform

Really?

I think it's PC only unless you mean DX9 & DX10 as two seperate platforms?
And if you are referring to the strategic control of different units within the game, does that mean SH4 is no longer a good sim now this has been added to it as well?

I think it's still PC only.

Generally it is always a good idea to keep expectations with games down until release. The games I play a lot are usually not the ones I was awaiting for years, there are exceptions of course (GPL, SHIII).

From my experience there is really no point to get excited if something is years out. Anything is hot air until someone can actually play it.

It's even more unfortunate when a game you already had low expectations for ends up sucking. *cough*Army of Two*cough*

I'll keep a close eye on this game now that it seems the health bar bull**** is gone. Maybe we'll get lucky, and Akella will even release an SDK for it one day. Since it looks really pretty and the ships themselves seem to work fine.
