Ok fellas, time to put your money where your text buffer is. Thought this might be a fun and interesting way to compare how much people have contributed to keeping Subsim afloat. I realize people can outright lie, but I'm hoping most of us will be truthful. Maybe we'll even convince some lurkers to whip it out(their credit card, of course!) and donate to the cause.
I'll start. I first discovered Subsim sometime during the Silent Hunter II "Pacific Aces" phase. I've been a frequent reader ever since, although I do tend to disappear from time to time to pursue my first love, flight sims. But I always come back for the next release of Silent Hunter.
I believe that to date, I've donated $45. I think I dontated in increments of $15, $10, and $20. The $20 donation was just recently, while I was going through a divorce. I was bleeding money profusely at the time(legal fees), but having the ability to come to a place like Subsim to find and download great mods like the SH3 GWX mod, convinced me that even I could afford $20 to help fund this extremely worthwhile community.
Looking back on it, $45 is not a lot of money over the course of five or so years. In fact, now that I think about it, I've been a bloody cheapskate over the years!
I think it's time for me to start donating on a more regular basis. Won't you join me?
