I recently purchased a copy of SH3 for someone. I used the Amazon site.

What I received looks nothing like what I originally purchased years ago. 1st off the box is standard dvd movie size not the bigger box. Secondly there is no manual, no map, and no keyboard cardboard thingie. And lastly the disc itself is a different color. So my question is.. is this some kind of bootleg or knock off? Or did ubisoft really make a craptastic version?

I installed the game and it seems to be woking fine. The auto run feature is somewhat quirky as well as I have to manually eject it.

I know the whole buyer beware thing but I figured for 5$ if its crap I can throw it away and buy another one.

I havent seen any posts about this, I tried the search engine but came up empty handed.

The map and manual are on the disk with the latest versions. The difference is, the latest versions do not have the Star Force protection drivers. I have the same version from Amazon and it is all as it should be. It is a little disappointing not to have the map and especially the keyboard commands sheet included as with the older version.

As far as Kingmaker is concerned, Amazon is quickly shipping the book at least in the US, Canada and UK. Available in Germany France, Italy, Japan.

I didnīt know this was a ad channel for books unrelated to SH3... Well well...

Anyway. My copy of SH3, bought in Norway, was similar to the one you bought. No maps, no fancy box. Just the game in a DVD box. Bet the game is to old to deserve a real retail package anymore

Precisely....now being over 3 years old it's firmly embedded in the bargain basement category.

Don't forget to credit the mod work that has given it so much of its longevity http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif
