1. Can I download it, not buy the box?
2. How much it costs?
3. I'm in Europe, have european DVD version.. i guess... so, can i download the version linked from this forum? Because it says US, Canada, Mexico only.... so what about me?

OR

4. Would be thrilled to get a correct link to it that should be enough for me to buy the add-on.

Much thanks in advance! :)

1. Don't think so, see number 3.
2. Don't know, how much do the stores in your area of Europe (too large of a place to estimate the cost).
3. Yes, in Europe, would have European DVD version (if it's available in your country, which we don't know because we don't know what country you are in). Second part of question, if it says the download is only good for the US, Mexico and Canada, then I guess that would exclude Europe wouldn't it? Of course, you could always try it to see what happens

:ping: 10bucks is nothing, but i still wouldnt wanna jus throw it away on something that doesnt work. but it would be really strange if htey only made addon for US. On release notes they say there is a UK release a few days later... i wonder whats that all about..

I do believe the UBI website sells the DVD version. Whether or not they ship to your location is the unknown. As of yesterday it was listed as out of stock. I wouldn'y recommend the digital download that is specified for US/Canada/Mexico release. I do believe I read somewhere there were language differences?? The boxed version is $29.95, keep in mind that's US dollars. Good luck!

Eh, OK, so addon is for US only??

I am in Europe, in Estonia.

I have the EU DVD version, which is defaulted to French when I start up the setup, change it to English. I have German and Spanish languages there too on offer.

I dont see how there would be language issue for US version if I am already using English language in game, but probably would be issue for other languages except may be Spanish.

The reason I ask for download not box, is because I thought there was one. And I’d rather download it, because in shops here they dont sell the addon box! Yes, of course I have a legal copy. I obviously don’t need the bundle version with SH4.

So it seems at this stage we actually dont know how to buy an addon in Europe via download?... J

Firewall, what I meant was, UBI in Europe sells the boxed version. I know the below link shows the US shop, but it does lead you to believe there is a boxed version because it says it's out of stock at one spot, but right below it says it's "also" available by direct download.
http://ushop.ubi.com/shop/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=prod150157&categoryId=pc-simulation&navAction=jump

And 941, if you have the US version, then I would say yes, why not use the download version. It can be downloaded from the above link, as I did it the other night. It will take you to what appears to be a universal digital download, as it does not say US anywhere in the address. Also Direct2Drive also has it for download.

Can you not get to those sites from Estonia?? Is not the world wide web, the world web??

Maybe I'm not understanding something correctly??

Hi MJ :D

The box version concern of europe version is I saw someone post about there dvd reading it.

I gather a UK dvd player is different than a USA one. As are the SH3 and SH4 dvd disc's.

I know my post this morning is kinda crude. I know what I want to express but maybe I haven't wrote it properly. Sorry.

Maybe you guys can help me.

I think it had something to do with , stage 1 and stage 2 dvd players ?

yes, dvd region stuff, my PC like would not play the games... i dunno about that. makes sense, since i cant order games from amazon.com but only from amazon.co.uk

alll this stupid region **** just to limit the game release to certain markets.

Major J, I am in Europe and have european dvd, as I wrote previously its defaulted to French but lets me chose english, french, german or spanish on installation setup. So if thats any different to what you have in US, then I have different version.

@ Firewall
No offense taken. I know it's sometimes hard to type what you are trying to say. I do a lot customer service in my job, I can relate! :)

@ 941
As far as the difference in DVD players between Europe and US, I totally forgot about that factor. I always thought that mainly affected DVD movies. But I'm certainly not an expert in that field.

So your original install of the game, is it the US DVD version or the European DVD version?? As for the compatibility of the download for those 2 versions, you might want to inquire at the UBI SH4 forum. Someone there might be better qualified to give you an answer.

None taken Major J

I think what alot os USA member/ purchasers want to know is.

1. Is USA D\L Burnable to CD ? As only d\l is availble in USA.

2. If only EU DVD is available will it play on USA DVD Player ?

Hi Firewall. Last Saturday, I ordered the expansion from here:

http://www.gogamer.com/Silent-Hunter-4--U-Boat-Missions-Expansion--I--PC-Simulations_stcVVproductId38392830VVcatId444808VVv iewprod.htm

It is listed as an import, but it arrived today, and I am playing it (US campaign) as I type. No problems thus far.

http://shop.elvis.com.au/usa.gif http://shop.elvis.com.au/images/ntsc.gif NTSC is the standard picture format in the USA, Canada & Japan. For playback in these countries, you should buy only DVDs marked NTSC and not those marked PAL unless you have a TV capable of playing PAL images.
http://shop.elvis.com.au/aus.gif http://shop.elvis.com.au/images/pal.gif PAL is the standard picture format in the Australia, New Zealand and most of Europe. Most modern TV sets sold in Australia can also play NTSC these days but you should check the player instruction manual and/or contact the distributor if you are not sure.

Sure, why not. It's just an .exe installer file, nothing tricky about it.

Like CCIP said, what's so difficult about it? It's *just_an_EXE_file.*
