Range of Depth Charges??

As one of the most inept Kapitains in the Imperial Navy I have been struggling for some time with that single mission against the armed merchant cruiser. This evening I thought I had it sown up, I was about 4.5 km from the three ships and closing at periscope depth when I was detected. Although I lowered the periscope and dived and therefore didnt get hit by shell fire, I did get sunk by a depth charge. How is that possible at a range of 4km or more:damn:

I know it is warm here and I am sucking on a Corona Beer, but I have only had 1, honest:sunny:

S'alrite ... hic!.... I figured it out. Sneak up behind the convoy and torpedo the AMC then surface and finish off the other two unarmed ships. :arrgh!:
