I'm getting some pretty cool shots with the 3D version of the maps on this thing. If you download the engine for it, you can practically walk down Seattles streets for example. All the buildings are rendered in great detail, but of course multi-level detail. You will start out with an ugly model, and then download the high res model through your inet connection. Takes a minute to render all nearby objects in good detail.

This is the way maps will be getting in the future! Its way better than the older 3D maps they had.

I did try a Beta once of driving a car down Seattle's streets with map.live.com. I wonder what happened to that? I had a link provided by a friend that works at MS, so maybe its not a public test.

I would gage the aerial shots within in the last two years, there is a road near me which shows where the council balls up. Just to cut the story short the aerial picture was taken before they put in speed bumps.
