View Full Version : Cruising in the Black Sea

It's Apr 43 and I've just transferred to the 30/33 Flotilla in Constanza and have discovered a whole new world of eye-candy from the GWX team.

Having never been north of Iceland, I've never come across the Russians before and they're using Uragan Torpedo boats (fast, but quite easy to shake) and Storozhevoy Class destroyers (similar to C&D or V&W class). At the moment the crews seem to be quite green and are relatively easy to beat (at one point I had SEVEN of them chasing me, but managed to sink three and evade the rest before limping back to home base).

If you're after some little seen nationalities like Romanian and Russian, and some brand new ships like Uragan and Storozhevoy, come and join me in the Black Sea.

Might just go hunting in the black sea, as I've never done it before!

hmm, sounds tempting. But I don't think my Type IX/C will fit:nope:

IMO the Black Sea is vastly a underated theatre of operations.....a pity really because it doesn't involve as much travelling as other theatres of operations. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

Oh, for a type IXc in the Black Sea, with all that flak and all those eels you could really put a hurtin' on the Russki's :D

and yes, it is underrated, it's a very good theater of operations for those hard-working people whose RL-jobs keep tearing them away from playing... short patrols, no worries about fuel consumption, even in that Canoe, no concerns that going to ahead full even once will mean you won't be able to get home except by rowing...

Did I mention the sunny weather? :sunny:

I've played in that body of water a few times, but always lost interest. Feels like the real decisive fight is in the North Atlantic and you're starring in the sideshow. Given what a titanic land struggle the Eastern front was, you could sink the entire Russian Black Sea Fleet and I don't the Red Army or Comrade Stalin would much care or notice.

Those Ukraine girls really knock me out tho. ;)

The good part is that in SH3, the Pe2 will almost always have 3 or four of his buddies with him....:o

But I agree in Il2 it's a very nice plane!
