Everytime I visit now, I am being redirected to the Subsim Forum Archive Page. Is this a problem with my account, was there an upgrade to the forum this afternoon, have I been thrown into the brig (in which case, my question would be for what), or is this just a random problem?

I have the same problem, too. Every page I visit I be sure to click the stop button in my browser to prevent the switch. I wonder why it is going to the PHPBB archive when the this forum now uses vBulletin?

I bet all you guys use Firefox and have the AdBlockPlus extension installed. I had the same problem last night, so I reviewed the page source code. There was a script called "dieAdBlockPlusdie" that could indirectly infer the user was using AdBlockPlus, causing the page to redirect to the Subsim Archive page. But this morning the script appears to be gone.

Which would explain why my access went back to normal this morning...and you're right. I am using Firefox 2.0 and that extension (which rocks, btw).

A fellow webmaster and I were talking about the Google ads. I told him for a time, the single Google ad on my forum was getting $2~ 3 dollars a day. But that has dropped to less than $1 a day :( He said it's because people are blocking the ad. He suggested the adblockerdie script, he said I would see people posting about it right away. He was right. I was surprised. Can you unblock the ad here manually?

Yes , Ad's can be unblocked manually or an exception made for a single site. This seems to be an example of where a good site loses out because of all the bad sites but most people would rather that than get harrased by the crap out there

Neal, so you know, I've disabled the Adblocker for Subsim. I've been running this extension for so long that I didn't even know that the ad was there. This is a site that I don't mind supporting with the simple step of disabling the Adblocker. Unfortunately, other sites are not nearly as benign, and I find that leaving it on is more generally a benefit than a liability.
