View Full Version : Renown going down?
Hi people,
Fist time poster here, been following SH1 to SH4. Loving it. Just recently finished a 70k tonnage in a single mission. Weird thing is my renown goes down. Is there a way to check why it went down form 1k to 405?. Things that happen:
Did recon mission near manila. Took picture of both carries and blast them out of the water.
went to sink a convoy newar luzon strait by killing its escorts and gunned the all merchants down.
went back home and found European liner. torped her down. went back home to manila(still can end patrol). on the way home got shot by some planes. only gunz are damaged but repaired. some crew are injured.

I'm pretty sure you lose renown for wounded crew members. Not 100% sure about damage. You will gain renown at end of patrol for missions and tonnage(?) etc..
You will lose renown for getting your crew injured.
You will lose renown for getting your crew injured.
I am aware that having injured crew kills your renown, but seems a bit too much. Im sure there's quite a number of renowns from the patrol. but more than 600?.
Anyone know where to get the renown values for negative events? Im skeptic at the killing of photograped ship.

There is a renown chart you can d/l. It doesn't include the values for injured crew but does say a Friendly ship is worth minus points. Is it possible maybe in the dark you downed a friendly ship? A Europea liner would be 900 points, but I don't think the Allies used them. Only ask this because the other day I was ready to attack a Task Force and it was pitch black out. Had a very hard time seeing, and wasn't until I got real close I saw USA flags. I've also found USA merchants where I had been downing Tankers and Freighters like a shooting gallery, don't know why he was even in that area, especially alone.
I wouldn't have expected to see either one where I did, just a suggestion. But it was probably the injured crew, maybe the worse the injury the more the points???
As for the sinking of the photographed ship, I think the Admiral would ask, "Pretty pictures boy, but did you sink the damn things?"
The other posibility, were you drunk at the local bar and bought rounds for the whole fleet? And then forgot?

Reloaded the game. and went back without a scratch. no crew injured. Same result. So Im assuming one of the convoys that i ripped was carrying an american flag/the admiral would say "why did you sink the damn things? They're good diversions!! Dammit". but usually friendlies do have blue indicators so i never bothered watching the flag anyways.
Ergh.. they got bar in a sub? a.k.a torpedo "bar" room?
