I was excited for Howler93 the other day when he found the Yamato. Now today I find a Task Force and whoooooo, the Yamato!! I shot 6 into her side, but a second ship moved up and took the last two hits, it was the ?????? Yamato??? Am I crazy or just seeing double?

Here is a better pic of the one I was shooting at in the back.

So do I need new glasses or are there two Yamatos?

By 1943 the Yamato was joined by a new sister ship of the same class named the Musashi. Looks like you stumbled upon a family gathering.
Go here and you'll see pics of the sister ships- ya'll hit the BB jackpot!

Cash in those chips.
Unlike the German twins, Bismarck and Tirpitz, the Yamato and Musashi did operate together on occasion. Must have been an awesome sight. There was to have been a third, the Shinano, but she was converted to a giant aircraft carrier while still under construction and was sunk in 1944 by the Archerfish while being towed for fitting out.

Thanks, I thought I was going nuts for a minute. Kinda ticked me off that the sister ship took two of the shots though. It's hard enough to sink that stupid thing. But now I know how excited Howler93 must have been when he found it.

Now if I could only live through it. I have one major advantage over Howler though, I just came from Brisbane, hit a convoy on the way to the Celebes Sea (spelled right?) so I did a refit just outside the Celebes sea, so I have a full load, he only has 4 forward and 4 aft. And so far I haven't lived through the engagement. She is very well protected.

Did you see my avatar. I'm a loader, so I can come join you and get loaded!! That's what a loader does right? Unless you would rather come up here and shovel snow?
I'm running stock except for ROW, you are probably running a mod? My problem is completing a mission. I run out of torpedos before I get where I'm going.
Now don't get too loaded and fall out of the boat, you're not a submarine.
BTW, I did finally (on my third try) sink that beast. I don't know it this would work in real life, but you're gonna love this. I shot 6 bow shots, two hit the aft and must have got the propellers or maybe the engines, stopped it dead in the water. Dove to 100+ because the draft is so deep on that monster. Dove under and was going to shoot the stern torps from the other side. Then I got an idea, cause I really am nuts! Once I submerged, and was deep enough, I put the scope back up and watched for the hull. When I saw it I slowed to 1/3 then a bit of reverse to stop my momentum and sat underneath the Yamato while they reloaded my bow tubes. Hit reverse and came out shooting. I didn't even aim, just a slow steady turn and keep the scope on 0 degrees (since it wasn't moving) and shot 6 all along the side as I turned, then the spun my scope around and sunk one destroyer and damaged two more so they wouldn't be DCing me. So that cut it down to 5000 after me:lol:. But I managed to slip away.....took forever. The only down side, when I got back to port I felt like a soldier coming home from Vietnam...no parade, no drinks, no parties.. I mean after all I sank the Yamato, they could at least give me a cup of coffee. Geesh I even got a medal for sinking a merchant ship.
Take care DJFL and have a drink for me. Hey, you getting the add on or you sticking with the Pacific. I wish they would have made a separate game, now the threads are gettin mixed with some talking about addon some talking about stock and unless they state what it is I have no idea until I read the whole thing that it doesn't apply to me.

NOT is a hammock, not on a boat, not having a drink, just shoveling snow.

I was planning to Peabody but haven't found a site yet. D2D don't service outside of the US I think and besides I can't load it up on the PC at work. So, for the time being I'm using 1.4 version with TM, RSRDC, NSM4 and ROW.
Speaking about snow I've never seen snow in real only on TV and movies. Hell, I shiver just standing in front of the freezer. Just old Island Boy in me that's all.:yep: You take care, too Peabody. Drinks on me!:yep:
BTW great work on the Yamato The Tomato. That ship is now Sushi.

Now, imagine what would have happened to your sub had she suddenly capsized when you we're under her...
Good job, BTW
so far i only ever met Fleet Carriers, and some Battleships from really, really, far away, i guess it's just my luck to find the most valuable 'strategic' targets but the most useless ones in terms of tonnage... :(

Thanks Raptor. I guess if it capsized it wouldn't be any worse than facing the destroyers with empty tubes.
I am playing the 'stock' game. Only have ROW and Warships retextured (I think that's the name) so I am running into all kinds of stuff. I even ran into an island once.:rotfl:
If you're running stock, which most are not, and it isn't too late in the game go to the NE cornor of The Bismark Sea and wait by the entrance to Rabaul or go to the entrance of Manila early in the war, but after it was taken and you will have more convoys than you know what to do with. At least it's like that for me.

If you transfer to Brisbane, when you can, they will probably give you missions there anyway. That is not where I found the Yamato, but to be honest I don't remember where that was. But if you're looking for tonnage there are tons of Convoys too. I did attack a task force there, the Yamato wasn't there but an Ise Battleship was, and they sink easier. But I took out the Flattops.
