Looks plainly ridiculous to me. Like if Battlefield '42 and Super Mario Kart had a child.

If you can download and play for free, how can anyone go wrong? I think it looks kind of fun.:lol:

Why link this to the Battlefield series?

Edit: Just watched the trailer, and it looked awesome. Haha, that is one great trailer.

I can't imagine EA releases something for free. There has to be a flaw somewhere; like spy software that is installed in the background or something :hmm:

Yeah. There has to be a catch there somewhere. There's no way EA would do something for free. :-?

As I mentioned in another thread on the subject - in-game ads is the trick!

As I also mentioned in that thread, I'm skeptical. They've been recycling original ideas from BF for a long time now, and now they're recycling Team Fortress 2's also. Given how awesome (in my humble view) TF2 has got cartoony action, balance and team-play built around it, I think it would be hard to follow. Comparisons are inevitable regardless, and what I see/read so far doesn't yet stack the odds in BF:H favour :hmm:

That part about not having a 15 year old play the game every day for 15 hours take sthe fun out of the game for people like me who fit that discription. There is nothing more fun than killin newbs on an online game.

Well EA already said the ads are not ingame. Rather they're on the login in site and such, so no ingame billboards telling you to go drink a coke or something. Either way I'm pretty excited for it, its free, the ads aren't in-your-face annoying, and for all we know EA could get something right this time.

:rotfl:The best trailer I have seen for a long time. It is a crazy idea to transform BF42 into a cartoon warfare.

I'm a vet of the Battlefield series with the exciption of Battlefield 2142. But this new version of battlefield is a step in... well a new direction and following in the steps of Team Fortress 2, which is a cartoon shooter and looks fun as hell to play. As far as noobs are concerned we all were noobs once. Keep in mind sometimes even the most experianced person makes mistakes too.

Yeah. There has to be a catch there somewhere. There's no way EA would do something for free. :-?

According to some articles, the catch is that EA has implemented an ads system and "micro transaction"

Obviously, ads system could be ingame, or for the serve browsers, but micro transaction is what is used in some other games in which people pay real money to get access to weaponry or equipment unavailable for players not paying for them.

So if during the gameplay while armed with your STG 44 or your Lee Enfield you are suddenly shot by a dozen of mini-nuclear warhead automatically homing on you, you will understand it is the result of one of your opponent having bought something through EA "micro transaction" :D

Can't imagine what a multiplayer game of Sub Command would have been with "micro transaction" , while scanning your broadband sonar to find contact to transmit to your TMA crew, your sub is suddenly cut in half by a huge laser coming from an orbital space ship recently bought by a player through micro transaction :D

If balanced properly those "Micro Transactions" could work rather well

The version I heard was that weapons and other 'game balancing' items weren't up for sale, but the customization options were.
