Is it just me, or in GWX 2.0 is there a _lot_ more heavy fog and rain than in GWX 1.03. I have a campaign in the north atlantic and i've done 3 patrols. Clear weather is _rare_. Winds seem higher. The storms last forever. I just wonder if something's changed. Absolutely calm sea seems only to happen in port.

Hmm not that I'm aware of, I haven't had that problem at all, but one of the real knowledgeable dev types will be along to answer this, I don't think anything was changed weather-wise though
also it pays to keep in mind that the weather won't change for at least teh 1st 24 to 48 hours after loading up a save game, which makes the spells of bad weather unusually drawn out sometimes

From what I read, GWX2.1 is coming with a fix for weather.

Yes that is correct...and let me tell you it ROCKS!!! Weather changes are truly random... do a search on RealWeather and you should find out about the fix, and can incorporate it now with GWx 2.0
Edit: Here is the link to RealWeather (the mod that is going into GWX2.1) mod that you can intergrate into GWX2.0 now if you cant wait for 2.1 http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=130147&highlight=RealWeather

I use realweather, and it took awhile to copy data folder from SH3 to new folder under JSGME per instruction, also enable or load realweather using JSMGE takes time, around the same length of time to install SH3 cuz data files is huge. I noticed the difference but I consider it as improvement and worth it. I remember in stock, when most of my crew have exclamation marks, as their endurances have depleted, for some reason it brought the storm every time and the storm last forever until I started new patrol. But not with this mod. The storm usually last 3 days or a week at most using this mod for me.

I've not really noticed much difference in the weather patterns in 1.03 and 2.0. But it can sometimes be frustrating when you sailiong along in calm seas and all of a sudden it goes to hvy/seas with strong wind and rain, and can last for weeks on end:damn:, meaning you cannot sink any targets for a while.
I just had 8 days straight of good weather :D. But the sea was empty of ships . Do the buggers wait for fog & rain to sail?

I think they hear your choir making the most of the good weather on deck and know you're coming. :D

That's just a minor side effect. The weather is sorted but the ships go awol :rotfl:

Yea - this last patrol for me has been all sonar attacks. I make contacts - convoys, lone merchants etc, and when I go to the bridge - bam - hellish rain and blackness. When I'm transitting back across Biscay at the end...clear skies. Out around Rockall, I never got the chance to reload external torps - it just never cleared.

I've had devilish times with bad weather too. Any tactics for attacking lone targets in terrible weather? The problem for is that I lose visibility when I try to get far enough out to take a torpedo shot. What I usually try to do is run parallel, abeam of the target till I get a hundred yards ahead, two hundred yards off their side, turn out, then in again to square the t. Often times though, the bugger sees me and maneurvers 10' so I lose sight. Then it's back to the hydrophones.:x
Another method I've just started trying is similar, but using the stern tubes for a parting shot, so that reacquiring the target after the turn to square the t isn't required (like it is when forward tubes are used).
And thanks for the link. Yes, sometimes monumental storms come up in the North Atlantic, but when in the North Sea, it's very unusual to get getting absolute socked-in rain, fog, and wind for three to four days straight!

Move close enough to see them (but hopefully not them you) and plot their course on your nav map. When your confident you have that, move ahead of them and lie in wait. keep an eye on your hydrophone line and when there at almost 90 degrees, you should have a fbetter than fair chance of a hit from about 350 metres away.
