Say I've got several installs of SHIV loaded using the multi-SHIV tool...and let's say they are in this order:

1. Game patched to 1.4;
2. Game patched to 1.4 to be used as a master copy file for the multi-SHIV tool;
3. Game patched to 1.4 with TM, and
4. Game patched to 1.4 with RFB

And they are all on HD "G"

So say I want to install the ADD-ON, or perhaps patch 1.5, to HD "G" given the file scenario listed above. To which version of the game will it install? Without an undirectable exe file, I really don't have a clue.I know it searches for something, but what?

Diiferent hardrives don't make a difference either as I routinely have my game files on HD "G" with misc. game files, patches, etc. on my main HD "C".

Help!

Thanks!

As I found out last night to my horror, to the one you do not want it to install too!:nope: It will actually read the Registry and find the entry to the original install and put the ADDON there, which ever DRIVE:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific.

Since that directory did not exist on my machine anymore! Since I move my original installs and hide them after patching to 1.4; the addon installed itself to a default directory where registry told it to go. So now I have the Addon standing alone all by itself. I copied it over the top of an original install and BOOM I have 1.5 up and running.

Oh and on a sad note MultiSH4 does not work with 1.5, since the filemanager file changed in 1.5!:nope:

Long winded, sorry!

Thanks for the info!

So in my illustration above, it would/should install to number 1, the "most clean" install of SHIV, the other three installs being "modified" by the milti-SHIV program...

Logical sounds it?

Or, if you are comfortable editing your registry, you can make it install to whichever installation you want it to by editing the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\GameUpdate execPath and installdir values to reflect which one you want it to update. Edit: you might need to change the install directory entry in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ubisoft\SilentHunter4 subkey also.

Insert usual CYA disclaimer about my not being responsible for your creating a tear in the space time continuum by doing anything I said to do.

Sad to hear that multish4 doesn't work on version 5:damn:
